How a drone roof survey works in Beamond End
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it is not safe. We survey large and complex roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors, and people most often book us about hidden gutters full of leaves and vegetation in valleys and gutters.
Villages like Beamond End often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. Close-up photos show what’s really there. It is far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. In a place like Beamond End, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. It is worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both with VAT included. We confirm the price for your survey before you book.
Why us?
- Plain-English reports with photos
- An independent view of the roof
- Customer satisfaction of 98%
- Surveys on weekdays and at weekends
What happens on the day
We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there’s safe access. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, and more on a big or complicated roof. Somewhere as small as Beamond End, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Let us know where we can park nearby

What we look for on each type of roof
Chimney stacks
Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. A drone shows linings, joints and build-ups of debris.
Tips that help
Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Let us know what you want to see
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
Your report arrives by email, with close-up photographs from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.
Keep the roof space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow.
Questions from Beamond End
Is Beamond End within the area you cover?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Beamond End?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
What does the report include?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.
How much is a survey?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in; we will agree the details when you book.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of customers are satisfied.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes, every report has them. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, so you can see what we mean.
What you can safely check yourself
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Drone roof surveys in Beamond End: local notes
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The wider area around Beamond End has a long history of building, with Hughenden Manor about 3.5 miles west. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Anyone responsible for a site like Holmer Green Junior School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Take an older house close to Church of the Holy Trinity: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- Height and safe access
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. You’ll know the figure before booking.
What we need to know
You don’t need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to let us know:
- What’s prompted the survey
- Your timetable, like an exchange date
- The address and postcode of the property
- The kind of building and roof involved
We confirm the price for your roof before you book, so you know where you stand. Our price is from £400, including VAT. To book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
