Drone roof survey in Bellfields
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. If you’ve noticed gaps where slates or tiles have gone and cracked mortar along the ridge, we can find out what’s behind it.
In smaller places like Bellfields, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. The parts you cannot see, like rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day. Even so, a close-up image frequently shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

The survey, step by step
Every visit follows the same pattern: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photographs as we go and make notes for the report. It normally takes between one and two hours at a typical home, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Being in a smaller place like Bellfields does not change how the visit works: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. It’s useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Tell us about parking before the day

Drone roof surveys in Bellfields: local notes
Guildford Castle, about 1.5 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Bellfields. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons.
The streets around a church like St Peter's Church are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Hotels and guest houses near Bellfields can’t easily close rooms for a leak.

What we’re asked to look at in Bellfields
Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the surface area by area. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
Problems we come across often include:
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
Anyone responsible for a site like Pond Meadow School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Before you book any roof surveyor
- What experience they bring
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
- Which limits apply to the survey
- How long the report takes to arrive
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
FAQs for Bellfields
Is my home in Bellfields listed or in a conservation area?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Is Bellfields within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Can you survey a roof inside a flight restriction zone?
It depends on the airspace at your address. Inside a flight restriction zone, we need permission first, which can add time. Book early if you think you may be affected.
Can you fly a drone in central London?
Some areas need permission from NATS before any flight. Where we can’t fly, we use other safe vantage points.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We note visible signs like sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and do not carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when you book.
Are you insured?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Why it’s worth a survey now in Bellfields
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. Close-up photos show what’s really there, slope by slope. It’s far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Tradespeople may need to travel further to a smaller place like Bellfields, so it helps to plan roof work rather than call someone out in a hurry. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.

Every price we give includes VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Our price is from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and the days you’d prefer.

Tips that help
Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
Keep the photos with your property records. They give you something to compare against later.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
