Drone roof survey in Benslow: what you get

We fly a sub-250g drone, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. If you are worried about moss and weeds taking hold up top and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

Even in a smaller place like Benslow, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Why act early in Benslow

Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It helps when you plan ahead. In an older home around Benslow, water from a roof defect can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than the original defect.

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

Why us?

  • Independent findings on the roof’s condition
  • Surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays
  • Covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • 98% customer satisfaction

What we look for on each type of roof

Large commercial roofs

Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roof coverings wear out at different rates. We record the signs of age we can see.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Benslow

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • How big the roof is
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Getting in touch

These details help when you get in touch:

  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • What kind of property and roof it is

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from the ground or a window. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

What we do, step by step

Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos. As for time on site, most surveys take between one and two hours at a typical home, and more on a big or complicated roof. Homes around Benslow frequently have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. Inside, the loft is checked where it can be reached safely.

  1. You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Advice

FAQs for Benslow

Do you cover smaller places like Benslow?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.

How do I find out if my home in Benslow is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it does not include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.

Are there drone restrictions in central London?

Some areas need permission from NATS before any flight. Where we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points and explain what we could see.

Is your drone operator registered?

Yes. Our registration covers a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We use a sub-250g drone.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

Drone roof surveys in Benslow: local notes

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it’s listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.

Take an older house close to Church of the Holy Saviour: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Benslow?

Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the surface area by area, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as William Ransom Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
