Walsworth Drone Roof Survey
Know where you stand with the roof before you spend money on it. We carry out drone roof surveys in Walsworth.
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
What happens if roof problems are left?
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. Tradespeople may need to travel further to a smaller place like Walsworth, so it helps to plan roof work rather than call someone out in a hurry. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.
We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

About our drone roof survey in Walsworth
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or is not safe, such as old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. We will tell you if another approach would work better. If you’re worried about storm damage on steep or tall roofs and outlets choked with leaves and silt, we can find out what’s behind it, on valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and tall and steep roofs alike.
Older cottages and houses around Walsworth may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
The report doesn’t just list problems. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend.

Drone roof surveys in Walsworth: local notes
Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
If you look after a building such as Highover Junior Mixed and Infant School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If you live in an older home near St Faith's Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Walsworth, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do.

What we can’t see
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. The full list of what we check.
Roof types and parts we check
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Valleys and parapet gutters
Surveys for landlords and agents in Walsworth
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Bigger roofs take more time.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
Walsworth: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Walsworth?
Yes, Walsworth is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
How do I find out if my home in Walsworth is listed?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Can you fly a drone in central London?
It depends where in central London. Restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs need NATS permission before a flight. We check each address first, and fall back on other viewpoints if we cannot fly.
Does the drone show the underside of the roof?
No. It sees only the outer surfaces. Leaks, damp timbers and condensation frequently show first from inside, so we check the loft too where we can.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. Where a material might contain it, like old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes, we are. Our Flyer ID and Operator ID come from the CAA, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g.
Does the weather affect a drone survey?
Strong wind or heavy rain stops a flight. Whether we can fly depends on the conditions on the day. If it’s unsuitable, we will agree another date or inspect by other means.
What affects the price in Walsworth
When we price a survey, we consider:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Height and safe access
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- How big the roof is
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £400, including VAT.
Helping us price your survey
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- The property’s address and postcode
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
If you’re buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or send us an email whenever suits you.
The survey, step by step
You do not need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will take it from there. A typical survey takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Some parts of a survey depend on the weather, so a visit to Walsworth is booked with the forecast in mind: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from the ground and the loft can go ahead in most weather.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Preparing for the visit
- If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Leave a clear route to the loft

What else we do in Walsworth
Should I look at the roof myself first?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
