Your questions about drone roof surveys in Camden Town
Is my home in Camden Town listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Camden Town?
It rarely stops a survey, but it’s worth planning. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we will work around them.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not unless it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
Do you cover Camden Town?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, Camden Town included.
What if my home is near an airport?
Near airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, London City and Stansted, flight restriction zones apply. We check your address and ask for permission where it is required. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points.
Drone roof survey in Camden Town
Every flight starts with an airspace check. Flight restriction zones around airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. If you’ve noticed vegetation in valleys and gutters and cracked mortar along the ridge, we can find out what’s behind it.
In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. We take care to focus on the roof we’ve been asked to look at. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when booking. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Survey packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- How big the roof is
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Which survey package you book
- Height and safe access
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Prices start from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
What we need to know
Before you get in touch, it is useful to have:
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Anything about access we should know
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from ground level or a window, and please do not climb up for a closer look. To get started, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

What we do, step by step
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely. The survey normally takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. Where that is the case, access needs agreeing with whoever controls that landing. Otherwise, the visit in Camden Town runs like any other.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Different roofs, different checks
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Leaks often start at outlets, edges and around plant. We photograph them closely, as far as the flight allows.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.
Drones, thermal imaging and Camden Town roofs
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.
If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Camden Town, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do. For an older house near a landmark such as St Michael's Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building like Our Lady Roman Catholic Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

What this survey cannot tell you
Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.
