Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Canons Park

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and people most often book us about ridge and hip pieces working loose and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof.

Many London roofs are hidden from the pavement: valley gutters behind parapets, dormers and flat-roofed rear additions. That is where a view from the air or a thermal camera helps, by showing what cannot be reached safely. The weather decides the day: both drones and thermal cameras need the right conditions. Thermal images show surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings.

The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It is useful right away, and a good reference for later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Canons Park: your questions answered

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Canons Park?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Canons Park?

Parking in Canons Park, as in most of London, takes a little planning: a visitor permit or a bay close to the door helps a lot.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Are there drone restrictions in central London?

Parts of central London are restricted, including areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs, and flights there need NATS permission. We check the airspace for your address and apply where needed.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

How long does the visit take?

Expect it to take an hour or two for a house, and longer for a large or complex roof. That includes checking the site and the weather before take-off.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. Visible signs like deflection or sagging are recorded, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. The report will say if you need an engineer.

Drones, thermal imaging and Canons Park roofs

Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from the ground, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. Historic houses such as Headstone Manor, about 3 miles west, show how far back building in the area around Canons Park goes. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Lawrence, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Canons Park is in London, so parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day easier.

Before and after the survey

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:

  • Tell us the exact address when you book
  • Tell us about any leaks or concerns
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photos and findings. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.

Do not block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.

When to book a survey in Canons Park

Hidden gutters and valleys are easy to overlook. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.

Problems we come across often include:

  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs

If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Broadwalk Centre, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

What to check before booking

  • Whether the price includes VAT
  • Their track record with similar roofs
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Their report turnaround times

What’s in a roof survey

Prices for drone roof surveys in Canons Park

To price your survey, we look at:

  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

What to let us know when you get in touch

A few details help us suggest the right survey and price. When you get in touch, it helps to mention:

  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details.

Checking the roof from ground level

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date.

You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.

How the survey works

Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos, emailed to you. As for time on site, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. In Canons Park, as in much of London, lots of properties are flats or terraces without side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us when booking.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Jot down any questions you want answered
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Advice

For landlords and managing agents

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work.

For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, putting the urgent items at the top.
