What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:

  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • Which survey package you book
  • The roof’s overall size

To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and some details. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.

Getting in touch

A few details help us suggest the right survey and price. When you get in touch, it’s useful to mention:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is

If you are buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or send us an email when you’re ready.

Drone roof survey in Cliffe

Drone roof surveys are available in Cliffe and throughout London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We are frequently asked to look into flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and debris building up in hidden gutters, on chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors.

In a village or hamlet like Cliffe, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Weather and airspace are looked at ahead of the visit, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Why act early in Cliffe

Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area. You can tackle the urgent items first. For an older or listed building in a place like Cliffe, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What you get with us

What we do, step by step

The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It usually takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Older roofs in small places like Cliffe can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it is safe.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

Advice

Can I check my roof myself?

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Common questions in Cliffe

Is Cliffe within the area you cover?

Yes, Cliffe is covered. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.

Are there drone restrictions around Cliffe?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

How soon will I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we are given access to.

How many surveys have you done?

Over 5,000 surveys so far, over more than 20 years, and 98% of clients are satisfied.

Does the weather affect the survey?

Light rain is typically fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In high wind or heavy rain, a drone can’t fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when you book.

What we can’t see

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs

What a drone roof survey looks like in Cliffe

Cliffe lies within about 2 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

Anyone responsible for a site like St Helen's Church of England Primary School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. Temple Manor, about 4.9 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Cliffe. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself. For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Helen, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. A drone avoids that.

Large commercial roofs

Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
