Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Cubitt Town

A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. We keep the camera on the roof we’re surveying, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. If you’ve noticed slipped or missing slates on a high roof and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Many London roofs are hidden from the pavement: butterfly roofs behind parapets, dormer tops and flat roofs over back additions. That’s where a view from the air or a thermal camera helps, by showing what can’t be reached safely. Weather on the day decides whether it goes ahead, in Cubitt Town as anywhere. Thermal images show surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings.

The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It is useful straight away, and a good reference for later.

What we cannot see

A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:

  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • A structural engineer’s report

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you. What our survey covers.

Roofs we survey in Cubitt Town

  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Prices for drone roof surveys in Cubitt Town

All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • How big the roof is

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.

What to tell us when you get in touch

What helps most when you contact us:

  • Any deadline, like an exchange date
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • What made you get in touch
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one

Unsure which package suits your roof? The easiest way is to ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will explain the options and the price.

Cubitt Town: your questions answered

Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Cubitt Town?

It rarely stops a survey, but it is worth planning. Tell us what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Cubitt Town?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

What happens after the survey?

The report comes by email, and what you do next is up to you: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.

How long does a drone roof survey take?

It typically takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. That includes the checks before the drone goes up.

What about my neighbours’ privacy?

The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring gardens or windows. We only survey what the owner has asked us to. A word with next door beforehand is a good idea.

Can the drone do thermal imaging?

Our drone takes close-up photos of the roof. Thermal imaging is a separate check, and it’s part of the Premium Survey.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Tell us about it as you book and we will plan the survey around it.

Before and after the survey

A little preparation and a few simple habits help. Some pointers:

  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Expect a little longer if permission is needed
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.

Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

Common roof problems in Cubitt Town

The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From the ground, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.

Typical things we are asked to look at include:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles

A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Cubitt Town means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it is worth knowing the roof’s condition.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What exactly goes into their report
  • Their report turnaround times
  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
  • Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA

What’s in a roof survey

How the survey works

Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. If you have questions on the day, just ask. In a London conversion, the way into the loft space is frequently from a communal landing or the top flat. Where that is the case, access needs agreeing with whoever controls that landing. Otherwise, the visit in Cubitt Town runs like any other.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

What you can safely check yourself

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
