East Burnham Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in East Burnham, carried out by an experienced roof surveyor. Every survey comes with a written report and photos.
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
Why act early in East Burnham
From the ground, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. Close-up photos show what’s really there, slope by slope. It is far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. You will know the figure before booking.

How a drone roof survey works in East Burnham
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. Typical surveys look at wind damage high on the roof and lead work pulling away at abutments, on valleys and parapet gutters, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs.
In a small place like East Burnham, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
The written findings come by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
Common questions in East Burnham
Will you come out to East Burnham?
Yes, East Burnham is covered. Our area covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
Is drone flying allowed in East Burnham?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. Visible signs like deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
How long is the visit?
That depends on the size and shape of the roof; most visits take roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. The written report follows by email.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. We check the parts we’re given access to, and the report makes that clear.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.
Drones, thermal imaging and East Burnham roofs
The wider area around East Burnham has a long history of building, with Cliveden about 2.8 miles west. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
For an older house near a landmark like St John the Evangelist, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.

What we do, step by step
Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings in a report with photos, sent to you by email. As for time on site, it usually takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere as small as East Burnham, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in

- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads

Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. They’re all captured in close-up, as far as the flight allows.
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. We can see the extent of it from above.
Do you need a drone roof survey in East Burnham?
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
A survey can pick up problems like:
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Caldicott School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
