Drone roof survey in Eight Ash Green

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. Typical surveys look at storm damage on steep or tall roofs and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, across tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs.

Somewhere as small as Eight Ash Green, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned beforehand. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Eight Ash Green

Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when booking and we will plan the survey around it.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work.

What we look for on each type of roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.

Ridges and hips

Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • Flights in strong wind or a downpour
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Before and after the survey

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:

  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Let us know the exact address as you book
  • Expect a little longer if permission is needed
  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet

With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.

What affects the price in Eight Ash Green

All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • How big the roof is

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.

Getting in touch

A little information up front helps. Please include:

  • The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • The kind of building and roof involved

Not sure which survey you need? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or email us and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We’ll explain the options and the price.

Airspace, weather and Eight Ash Green roofs

Weatherboarded walls and clay tile roofs are typical of older Essex buildings, with post-war and more recent estates making up much of the newer housing. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons.

If you own one of the older houses in the streets near All Saints Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. Anyone responsible for a site like Holy Trinity CofE Primary School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Shop and office owners around Lion Walk may find that large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera.

How the survey works

The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit usually takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Somewhere as small as Eight Ash Green, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Getting a price

Eight Ash Green: your questions answered

Will you come out to Eight Ash Green?

Yes, Eight Ash Green is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Eight Ash Green?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

What happens next?

You will receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.

How do I book a survey in Eight Ash Green?

To book, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know the address and what you need to know. We’ll confirm the price and agree a day with you.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

Do you need to get into the loft?

Where it’s relevant to the survey and there’s safe access, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch.
