What to let us know when you get in touch
To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To get started, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
How a drone roof survey works in Hampton Wick
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone will not help on your roof, we will say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs, and people most often book us about ridge and hip pieces working loose and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Every address in Hampton Wick is checked before any drone flight, and permission is never taken for granted.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Tips that help
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off
We email the report to you, with close-up photos from the flight. Findings are set out in plain English, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone can show exactly what has moved.

Airspace, weather and Hampton Wick roofs
In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. If your home in Hampton Wick is one of them, bay roofs, hips and later dormers each have their own details. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help. Hampton Court Palace, about 1.4 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Hampton Wick. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
For a London address like Hampton Wick, it helps to know about controlled parking before the day. For hotels and guest houses around Hampton Wick, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest, so it pays to find faults before guests do.

What we cannot see
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Flights in high wind or heavy rain
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll recommend the right survey. What our survey covers.
What we look at
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Chimney stacks
What we do, step by step
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will take it from there. The survey itself takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. If that applies to your building, it helps to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Otherwise, the visit in Hampton Wick runs like any other.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
Booking a survey
Once you know what you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.
Advice
Questions from Hampton Wick
Is my home in Hampton Wick listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Are there drone restrictions around Hampton Wick?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we will explain what’s needed.
How soon will I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We check everything that can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
What does the report include?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, backed by photographs. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photos are part of every report, so you can see each point for yourself.
Common roof problems in Hampton Wick
Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Older slates and tiles break easily, and some sheet roofs are fragile. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
Shop and office owners around Bentall Centre may find that big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
- What insurance they carry
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- What follow-up you get after the report
