About our drone roof survey in Hurley

We carry out drone roof surveys in Hurley and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We survey large and complex roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are chimney tops in poor condition and vegetation in valleys and gutters.

Somewhere as small as Hurley, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from the ground. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photograph. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

Why act early in Hurley

From the ground, you’re guessing about most of a tall roof. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photographs. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

Prices start from £150, including VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. We confirm the price for the job before you book.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Hurley?

From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. You cannot see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Faults there can go unnoticed for years.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls

Take an older house close to Church of St Mary: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What’s outside the scope of the survey
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone
  • How long the report takes to arrive

Drones, thermal imaging and Hurley roofs

There are several hotels within about a mile and a half of Hurley, and hotels, like offices and blocks of flats, frequently have flat roofs. If you look after one, a large roof can be surveyed without guests having anyone working above them. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

Historic houses like Harleyford Manor, about 0.6 miles north, show how far back building around Hurley goes. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Hurley, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it is worth knowing the roof’s condition.

What we look for on each type of roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position.

Large commercial roofs

Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically, so nothing is skipped.

FAQs for Hurley

Are there drone restrictions around Hurley?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Will you come out to Hurley?

Yes. Hurley is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

Will you go up on the roof?

Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

What’s the best way to book?

It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or email us. Let us know the address and a little about the roof. Surveys run on any day of the week.

How many surveys have you done?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.

When does the report arrive?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.

Can I check my roof myself?

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

How it works

Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes an hour or two for a house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. If you have questions on the day, just ask. In a small place like Hurley, access is typically the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
