About our drone roof survey in Kingston Blount
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Common reasons to book are cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, on tall and steep roofs, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
Villages like Kingston Blount often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

What happens on the day
We don’t take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. Most visits take about one to two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Somewhere as small as Kingston Blount, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Check pets are kept safely away

If you’re buying, it is useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email when you’re ready.

What we are asked to look at in Kingston Blount
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
What to check before booking
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- Are they insured for the work?
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
What we can’t see
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- A structural engineer’s report
If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.
What we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Valleys and parapet gutters
Checking the roof from ground level
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us as you book, as it helps us focus the survey.
Roof by roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen.
Large commercial roofs
Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.
Airspace, weather and Kingston Blount roofs
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Cotswold stone slates are found on older buildings in west Oxfordshire, and thatch survives in some of the county’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
Historic houses such as Adwell House, about 2.6 miles west, show how far back building around Kingston Blount goes. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Aston Rowant Church of England Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

Common questions in Kingston Blount
Are there drone restrictions around Kingston Blount?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Will you come out to Kingston Blount?
Yes, Kingston Blount is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
What will the report tell me?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.
