Benson Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach across Benson, with drones and thermal imaging where they help. Call or email for a price.
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
Why it’s worth a survey now in Benson
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. A drone survey finds them sooner. Tradespeople may need to travel further to a smaller place like Benson, so it’s useful to plan roof work rather than call someone out in a hurry. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.
Prices start from £150, with VAT included, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. We confirm the exact price before booking.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Benson
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly. Everything we find goes into a written report with photos. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. If you’re worried about blocked valleys and parapet gutters and cracked mortar along the ridge, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Places like Benson can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Drone roof surveys in Benson: local notes
Benson is about 1 mile from RAF Benson, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. Older buildings in west Oxfordshire frequently have Cotswold stone slate roofs, and some Oxfordshire villages still have thatch. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St Helen, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Take a building like Benson Church of England Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. With Brightwell Manor about 2.7 miles west, the area around Benson has a long history. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
Benson is about 6 miles east of Didcot, in Oxfordshire. We cover Benson and the rest of Oxfordshire, as part of our work across London and South East England. Benson is one of the places in Oxfordshire where we work for drone roof surveys. Our Oxford page covers surveys nearby.

Different roofs, different checks
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, and it isn’t a flue or gas safety check. We’ll say if a specialist is needed.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. A drone avoids that.
Honest limits
Before you book, it is worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you before booking. What a survey covers and does not.

The survey, step by step
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos. On timing, most surveys take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. A visit to Benson is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Weekday and weekend visits are both possible. If there are outbuildings or garages you want looked at, mention them.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before the survey
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- Check we can get to the back of the property

Advice
Can I check my roof myself?
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book.
What a survey costs
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. This is what makes a difference:
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Height and safe access
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- How big the roof is
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
What to tell us when you contact us
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It is useful to include:
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- The address and postcode of the property
- When you need the report by
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
Every survey is priced before it’s booked, so you know the cost up front. Our price is from £400, including VAT. To book, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Benson: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Benson is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you cover smaller places like Benson?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
How long does the visit take?
Allow roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. We will give you an idea of timing when you book.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling are not something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Strong wind or a downpour stops a flight. Whether we can fly depends on the conditions on the day. If we cannot fly, we’ll arrange another day.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
What’s the best way to book?
Just phone 07833 053749 or email us. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
