Independent drone roof surveys in Wallingford

For landlords and managing agents

Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, putting the urgent items at the top.

Drone roof survey in Wallingford

Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and common reasons people get in touch are flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and cracked mortar along the ridge.

In smaller places like Wallingford, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. The parts you cannot see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. The forecast decides the day. Close-up images often show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that can’t be judged properly from the ground.

What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later.

What we do, step by step

The visit typically starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there is safe access. In total, it takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. A visit to a smaller place like Wallingford is no different on the day: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. It helps to show us anything you’ve already noticed.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Clear the way to the loft hatch

How to book

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Wallingford

A drone record gives you a baseline. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It helps when you plan ahead. Around Wallingford, a leak in an older house can soak into timbers and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than the original defect.

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.

Why us?

  • Surveys seven days a week
  • Photos and a written report every time
  • Clear package prices, including VAT
  • An independent look at the roof

What you can safely check yourself

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Drone roof surveys around Wallingford

Wallingford is about 2 miles from RAF Benson, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. About 1.7 miles north-west lies Brightwell Manor, a reminder of how long the area around Wallingford has been built on. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.

The streets around a church such as St Mary-le-More are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Wallingford?

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are often invisible from below. Close-up drone photos show their condition.

It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:

  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls
  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs

Take a building like Fir Tree Junior School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • Will the report include photos?
  • How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone
  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection

Wallingford questions

Will you come out to Wallingford?

We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.

How do I find out if my home in Wallingford is listed?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in if we’re looking inside or in the loft. We will talk about access when you book.

Does the drone show the underside of the roof?

No. It shows what’s on the outside. Leaks, damp timbers and condensation frequently show first from inside, so we check the loft too where we can.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers. We’ll recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Just say which days work for you.

What insurance do you have?

Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

What we look for on each type of roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It’s almost impossible to see from ground level, but it is plain to see from the air.

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from the ground. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.
