Flying and imaging in Lee
Lee is within about 3 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. If your home is older, it is worth knowing whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas.
If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Boniface, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Lee is about 2 miles south of Romsey, in Hampshire. Lee is one of many places we visit across Hampshire, for homes and businesses alike. Lee is one of the towns and villages in Hampshire we cover.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Lee
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. We don’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain, because control and safety come first. If the day turns out unsuitable, we will talk about another date or inspect what we can by other means. We check the forecast before the visit and again on site. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. We survey fragile roofs, tall and steep roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and people most often book us about slipped or missing slates on a high roof and ridge and hip pieces working loose.
Villages like Lee frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

FAQs for Lee
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Lee?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Is my home in Lee listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you as you book.
Does the report include photos?
Yes. The report includes photographs of what we found.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. Mention any deadline when you book.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Lee?
It is easiest to ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Let us know the address and a little about the roof. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.
What happens if roof problems are left?
A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It helps when you plan ahead. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you’d like to know.
What you get with us

When to book a survey in Lee
Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Older slates and tiles break easily, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Flashings that have come away
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
If you look after a building such as Oasis Academy Lord's Hill, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
What to check before booking
- How long the report takes to arrive
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Are they insured for the work?
What affects the price in Lee
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:
- Height and safe access
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- The size of the roof
A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.
Helping us price your survey
A few details help us recommend the right survey and price. When you contact us, tell us:
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- What’s prompted the survey
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so phone 07833 053749 or email us with the details.
What this survey can’t tell you
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will point you to the right survey. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
The survey, step by step
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. In total, it takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older rural homes like those around Lee can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Check the loft hatch can be reached
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Should I look at the roof myself first?
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.
