Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Lower Froyle
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there’s safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that is where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Together, the two give a fuller picture. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and people most often book us about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and chimney tops in poor condition.
Villages like Lower Froyle often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, with a note and a photo for each point. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

How we price drone roof surveys
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. This is what makes a difference:
- The size of the roof
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
- Which survey package you book
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.
Booking your survey
A little information up front helps. Please include:
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
- The address and postcode of the property
- Anything about access we should know
- The kind of building and roof involved
Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know where you stand. Prices start from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Signs you need a drone roof survey in Lower Froyle
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
A survey can pick up problems such as:
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Lifted or split lead flashings
Around Lower Froyle, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Their insurance cover
- Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
- How soon the report will arrive
- What they won’t be able to tell you
What happens if roof problems are left?
Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. Older cottages and farmhouses around Lower Froyle can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

FAQs for Lower Froyle
Is drone flying allowed in Lower Froyle?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Lower Froyle?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We carry out surveys seven days a week. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
How much is a survey?
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We’ll rearrange with you if the weather is not right.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
Flying and imaging in Lower Froyle
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
Take an older house close to Church of St Mary of the Assumption: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Honest limits
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
Practical tips
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Tell us the exact address as you book
- Let us know what you want to see
- Check the loft can be reached
- Book early if you are near an airport
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photos and findings. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
What happens on the day
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Rural addresses near Lower Froyle can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
