How a drone roof survey works in Mystole
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it cannot see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there is safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that’s where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there is no safe loft access, the report says so. We survey chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are debris building up in hidden gutters and vegetation in valleys and gutters.
In a small place like Mystole, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Tips from our surveys
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Tell us the exact address when booking
Keep the photos with your property records. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Mystole
Is my home in Mystole listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Will you come out to Mystole?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
Does someone need to be in?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access when booking.
What about my neighbours’ privacy?
Privacy is taken seriously on every flight. The camera is pointed at your roof, not next door. Letting neighbours know ahead of time helps.
Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?
The drone survey is a photographic inspection. Thermal imaging is carried out separately, and it’s part of the Premium Survey.
What if it’s windy or raining on the day?
The conditions on the day decide whether a flight goes ahead. Strong wind and heavy rain both rule out flying. If the weather turns, we will discuss another date.
Are there drone restrictions in central London?
Central London has restricted areas where NATS permission is needed. Where we can’t fly, we use other safe vantage points and explain what we could see.
How the survey works
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You’re welcome to ask questions while we are there. Somewhere as small as Mystole, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before the survey
- Let us know about parking near the property
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent

What we’re asked to look at in Mystole
Strong winds can lift slates, tiles and ridge pieces. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Church of St Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
When we price a survey, we consider:
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- House, block, shop or office
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and the package you choose.
Helping us price your survey
To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- The property’s address and postcode
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
- What kind of property and roof it is
Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know where you stand. Our price is from £400, including VAT. To book, call 07833 053749 or email us.

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
For businesses in and around places like Whitefriars Shopping Centre, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Chartham Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
