About our drone roof survey in New Southgate
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. If you are worried about cracked mortar along the ridge and moss and weeds taking hold up top, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building as you book. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.
The written findings come by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

New Southgate: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in New Southgate is listed?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in New Southgate?
In much of London, parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day run more smoothly, so mention what’s available when you book.
What insurance do you have?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Do you cover New Southgate for drone roof surveys?
Yes, we do. We carry out drone roof surveys in New Southgate, and the service is the same as everywhere else we work.
What does the report include?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too, so you know exactly what was covered.
Does someone need to be in?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We will talk about access as you book.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, let us know as you book.
The survey, step by step
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. All told, expect an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is frequently on a shared landing. If that applies to your building, it is useful to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
How to book
Booking is simple: just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and give us a few details about the property and we’ll explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
Advice
Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. A drone avoids that.
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.
What a survey costs
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- The size of the roof
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
Booking your survey
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- What made you get in touch
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
You can call us seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Can I check my roof myself?
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
Flying and imaging in New Southgate
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. If your home in New Southgate is one of them, bay roofs, hips and later dormers each have their own details. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from ground level, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
Shop and office owners around Grand Arcade may find that a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near St Paul's Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Controlled parking zones are common in London, so mention any permit rules for New Southgate, along with any off-street space.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Leaving a high roof unchecked means relying on what you can see from below. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photographs, slope by slope. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. Behind a London parapet, a blocked gutter can sit full of water without anyone seeing it. When the stain finally shows, the damage underneath is often older than it looks.
Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, access and the package you choose.

For landlords and managing agents
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant.
