Drone roof surveys near North Leigh

Different roofs, different checks

Ridges and hips

Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Drone roof survey in North Leigh: what you get

Drone roof surveys are available in North Leigh and throughout London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We survey fragile roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and tall and steep roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots and wind damage high on the roof.

Villages like North Leigh often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

The survey, step by step

We will ask a few questions first, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a hamlet or village like North Leigh, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch

North Leigh questions

Can you fly a drone over a roof in North Leigh?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

How do I find out if my home in North Leigh is listed?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report, and it does not include calculations. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes, once access has been agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.

Does the report include photos?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see each point for yourself.

How experienced are you?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.

How long does the survey take?

Most surveys take between one and two hours for a house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. We’ll confirm the timing as you book.

When you need someone else

No survey can tell you everything, and it is better to know them up front. Bear these in mind:

  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

Take a building like North Leigh Church of England (Controlled) School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. Blenheim Palace lies about 3.9 miles north-east, so building around North Leigh goes back a long way. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition. Take an older house close to St Mary's Church: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Tell us about it as you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photos included.

DIY checks: what’s safe

A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.

It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book.
