Drone Roof Survey in North Warnborough

- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Standing water on a flat roof
What we do, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, inspect the roof from every safe vantage point, take photos as we go and record our findings for the written report. Most visits take an hour or two at most homes, and more on a big or complicated roof. In a hamlet or village like North Warnborough, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Drone roof survey in North Warnborough: what you get
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. Safety comes first on every visit. If you’ve noticed ponding and splits on a high flat roof and lifted or split lead flashings, we can find out what’s behind it, on tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and large and complex roofs alike.
Somewhere as small as North Warnborough, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Leave it or get it looked at?
Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

Do you need a drone roof survey in North Warnborough?
Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.
Most people get in touch when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
Take an older house close to All Saints Church: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.

FAQs for North Warnborough
Is my home in North Warnborough listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.
Are there drone restrictions around North Warnborough?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. RAF Odiham is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Are you insured?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.
Do you look in the roof space?
If the survey needs it and the roof space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft can’t be reached safely, the report says so.
What do I do with the report?
The report comes by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
Roof by roof
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Leaks often start at outlets, edges and around plant. We photograph them closely.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. A drone avoids that, so the survey does not add damage.
Drone roof surveys in North Warnborough: local notes
North Warnborough is about 2 miles from RAF Odiham, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
Take a building like Robert May's School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Tips from our surveys
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
