Drone roof surveys in Palmarsh

Can I check my roof myself?

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.

How a drone roof survey works in Palmarsh

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it’s worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. Typical surveys look at lifted or split lead flashings and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, across tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors.

Around Palmarsh, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

What a survey costs

We confirm the price for your roof before you book. These are the things that affect it:

  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • The size of the roof

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.

Helping us price your survey

You don’t need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to tell us:

  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Your timetable, such as an exchange date

To book a survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price before you book.

FAQs for Palmarsh

Will you come out to Palmarsh?

Yes, Palmarsh is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Palmarsh?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

How experienced are you?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.

What’s the best way to book?

To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and tell us the address and what you’d like to know. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.

How long will you be at the property?

Allow about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. We’ll give you an idea of timing when you book.

What does a roof survey cost?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, confirmed before anything is booked.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

We do not fly in strong wind or heavy rain. Whether we can fly depends on the conditions on the day. If we can’t fly, we’ll arrange another day or inspect by other means.

The survey, step by step

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. The survey usually takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Being in a smaller place like Palmarsh does not change how the visit works: outside, inside and from any safe vantage point, in that order. It helps to show us anything you’ve already noticed.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors

Related advice

Leave it or get it looked at?

With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. Homes in smaller places like Palmarsh can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Each storm lifts it a little further.

One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Why us?

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Large commercial roofs

Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Palmarsh

Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. Recommendations are set out by urgency where it matters, which helps with budgets and planning.

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer.

Drones, thermal imaging and Palmarsh roofs

Palmarsh lies within about 1 mile of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Westenhanger Castle, about 2.3 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Palmarsh. A drone or thermal survey does not involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you look after a building like Palmarsh Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Holy Cross, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Palmarsh is about 2 miles south-west of Hythe, in Kent. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Palmarsh can all book drone roof surveys, with a written report and photographs every time.
