Drone Roof Survey in Petteridge
Drone roof surveys in Petteridge, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. You get a clear report with photos.

How a drone roof survey works in Petteridge
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Flight restriction zones around airports like Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. Typical surveys look at cracked mortar along the ridge and chimney tops in poor condition, across flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and valleys and parapet gutters.
Older buildings in small places like Petteridge may be listed or in a conservation area. A look by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

For landlords and managing agents
If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the addresses.
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photographs included.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Petteridge, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before you book.
Why us?
- A written report with photos
- Two decades and more of roof surveys

Petteridge questions
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Petteridge?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is Petteridge within the area you cover?
Yes, Petteridge is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
How experienced are you?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Light rain does not usually stop a survey, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Strong wind or a downpour can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions are not right we will arrange another day with you.
What’s in the survey report?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.
Does someone need to be in?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access when you book.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
Useful tips for Petteridge property owners
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Let us know what you want to see
- Check the loft can be reached
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photographs are included where we could fly, alongside the other checks in the package.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.
Flying and imaging in Petteridge
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
Anyone responsible for a site like Brenchley and Matfield Church of England Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Scotney Castle, about 3.8 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Petteridge. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- What kind of property and roof it is

How it works
You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will take it from there. A typical survey takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere as small as Petteridge, access is frequently the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Let us know about parking near the property
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Keep pets in another room
Booking a survey
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What we’re asked to look at in Petteridge
Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
Take an older house close to Ebenezer Church (Matfield): older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.
Questions to ask before booking
- How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone
- What happens after the report arrives
- When you will get the report
- How long they’ve been surveying roofs
