Drone roof survey in Seabrook: what you get

A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see inside. We check the loft from inside where it’s safe, since that is where leaks and condensation often show first. Together, the two give a fuller picture. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. If there’s no safe loft access, the report says so. Common reasons to book are blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and debris building up in hidden gutters, on flat roofs on upper floors, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs.

In a village or hamlet like Seabrook, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit, and the journey is planned beforehand. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

Before and after the survey

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:

  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace

Keep the photos with your property records. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.

Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.

Drones, thermal imaging and Seabrook roofs

Seabrook is within about 1 mile of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.

If you look after a building such as Seabrook Church of England Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Westenhanger Castle lies about 4 miles west, so building around Seabrook goes back a long way. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Seabrook Church, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

Seabrook is about 2 miles east of Hythe, in Kent. From houses to flats and shops in Seabrook, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. Seabrook is one of the places in Kent where we work for drone roof surveys. You can also see our page for Canterbury.

We work across the CT21 and CT20 postcode area for drone roof surveys and the streets around it. If you need a drone roof survey at a property on Sandy Lane, Spring Lane and Naildown Road or anywhere close by, we can help. Close by, we survey roofs in Sandgate (1 mile east), Newington (1 mile north), Cheriton (1 mile north-east), Hythe (2 miles west) and Peene (2 miles north). Within a short drive, we also cover Ashford (12 miles north-west), Canterbury (14 miles north), Dover (9 miles north-east), Deal (15 miles north-east), Tower Hamlets (9 miles north-east) and Walmer (15 miles north-east).

How it works

The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit normally takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a small place like Seabrook, access is normally the main thing to plan. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed

How the survey changes by roof type

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.

Questions from Seabrook

Is drone flying allowed in Seabrook?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Is Seabrook within the area you cover?

Yes, Seabrook is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

What happens after the survey?

The report arrives by email, with photos and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

What’s in the report?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.

How soon will I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. We check the parts we are given access to, and the report makes that clear.

What we can’t see

Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:

  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Seabrook

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.

Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Why get it checked now?

Photographing a roof from the air doesn’t touch it. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so you see the roof exactly as it is. Outbuildings and barns around Seabrook are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. It is worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.
