Drone Roof Survey in South Harewood
We take a careful look at the roof at your property in South Harewood, and put it all in a photo-illustrated written report.
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Flashings that have come away
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
Drone roof survey in South Harewood: what you get
Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on, such as old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. If a drone isn’t the right tool, we’ll say so. We’re frequently asked to look into moss and weeds taking hold up top and debris building up in hidden gutters, on chimney stacks, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs.
Somewhere as small as South Harewood, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in South Harewood
Is my home in South Harewood listed or in a conservation area?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.
Do you cover smaller places like South Harewood?
Yes, South Harewood is covered. Our area covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. We check the parts we are given access to, and the report makes that clear.
Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?
Not as part of the drone survey, which is about close-up photos. Thermal imaging is a separate check in the Premium Survey.
What will the report tell me?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.
How soon will I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.
Does the report include photos?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see each point for yourself.
What you can safely check yourself
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.
The survey, step by step
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe. Most surveys take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Older roofs in small places like South Harewood can have low, tight loft spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it is safe.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
How to book
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or email us whenever suits you.

How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
The drone shows the outside of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. We will say if a specialist is needed.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. They’re all captured in close-up, as far as the flight allows.
What this survey cannot tell you
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
What we look at
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
Tips from our surveys
From years of surveys, a few habits stand out as worth the effort:
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. The photos show the location and extent of every problem, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.

Drone roof surveys in South Harewood: local notes
Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it’s listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Wherwell Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. Whatever the street in South Harewood, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early.
