Drone roof survey in Streatham Hill, Greater London
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach around Streatham Hill, with a written report you can act on. Book a weekday or weekend visit.
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
Honest limits
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads

Drone roof survey in Streatham Hill
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission isn’t given, we inspect by other means and explain why. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. We are frequently asked to look into moss building up on slopes and in gutters and wind damage high on the roof, across tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters.
London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. We take care to focus on the roof we’ve been asked to look at. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when booking. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Streatham Hill
Hidden gutters and valleys are easy to overlook. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
Things that frequently lead to a survey include:
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St Margaret, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.
What to check before booking
- Whether you get a written report with photos
- Whether VAT is added on top
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- What experience they bring
Roof by roof
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.
Drone roof surveys in Streatham Hill: local notes
The flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea comes within about 1 mile of Streatham Hill. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. Kingswood House, about 1.9 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Streatham Hill. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Southside Wandsworth, big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most. As a London address, Streatham Hill can be tricky for parking: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day easier.

Questions from Streatham Hill
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Streatham Hill?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when you book. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Streatham Hill?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. The flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea comes within about 1 mile of Streatham Hill. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We note visible signs like sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
What happens next?
You receive the written report by email, with photographs and recommendations. It is yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
The survey, step by step
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit typically takes about one to two hours for most houses; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In Streatham Hill, as in much of London, lots of properties are flats or terraces without side access, so the back of the roof is often seen from upstairs windows, from inside or, where a flight is allowed, from the air. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us when booking.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
How to prepare
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
- Note where any stains or damp appear

Advice
What you can safely check yourself
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
