Drone Roof Survey in Uppend
Drone roof surveys across Uppend, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. Every survey ends with a written report and photos.
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, and it is not a flue or gas safety check. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Flat roofs on tall buildings are often seen by nobody. A drone shows ponding, splits, blisters and worn upstands.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Uppend
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. Strong wind or a downpour rules out a flight, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the weather turns, we will agree another day or inspect what we can by other means. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. Common reasons to book are moss and weeds taking hold up top and worn lead at chimneys and walls, across valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
Villages like Uppend often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Uppend: your questions answered
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Uppend?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Do you cover smaller places like Uppend?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
How quickly is the report sent?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding.
Does your drone take thermal images?
Not as part of the drone survey, which is about close-up photos. Thermal imaging is a separate check in the Premium Survey.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
Parts of central London are restricted, including areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs, where flights need permission from NATS. We check the airspace for your address and apply where needed.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll explain what’s needed.
DIY checks: what’s safe
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.
When to book a survey in Uppend
Many roofs are never seen properly from ground level. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Problems in those places frequently go unseen until they leak.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Mary the Virgin, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- What insurance they carry
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- How long the report takes to arrive
What affects the price in Uppend
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- The roof’s overall size
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
What to tell us when you contact us
Before you get in touch, it helps to have:
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine; never climb up to get a better view. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.

What else we do in Uppend
What happens on the day
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Uppend needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
How to prepare
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
