Victoria Drone Roof Survey
Know where you stand with the roof before you decide what to do next. We carry out drone roof surveys in Victoria, with photographs and a clear written report.
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
How it works
Every visit follows the same pattern: we listen to what’s been worrying you, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a London area like Victoria, the main things to sort out are parking and access: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. On the day, the roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from inside the roof space and from the roof where it is safe.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in

Advice
Drone roof survey in Victoria
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it cannot see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there is safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that’s where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. If there is no safe loft access, the report says so. If you’re worried about chimney tops in poor condition and vegetation in valleys and gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
London’s roofs are often hard to see from the street: valley gutters behind parapets, dormers and flat-roofed rear additions. Drone photos and thermal images can show parts of a roof that are hard to reach safely. Weather on the day decides whether it goes ahead, in Victoria as anywhere. Thermal images show surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Practical tips
Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Check the loft can be reached
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to go through what the drone showed. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.
Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
Signs you need a drone roof survey in Victoria
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until it causes a leak inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
If you live in an older home near St. Michael's Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

FAQs for Victoria
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Victoria?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Is parking a problem for a survey in Victoria?
Typically it is manageable with a little notice. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we will work around them.
Is Victoria in your area?
Yes. We survey roofs in Victoria and the rest of Greater London. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you as you book.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes. We are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We fly a sub-250g drone and keep it in sight at all times.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed.
Can a drone see inside my loft?
No. It sees only the outer surfaces. The underside tells us things the drone can’t, so we check the loft too where we can.
What you can safely check yourself
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey before you book. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers

Airspace, weather and Victoria roofs
Victoria is inside, or right on the edge of, the flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea. Before any flight there, we ask the heliport for permission, and the flight only goes ahead if it is given. There are several hotels within about a mile and a half of Victoria. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Victoria, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition. If you look after a building like St Peter's Eaton Square CofE Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.
