Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Well Hall
Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it’s worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. We survey tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and large and complex roofs, and people most often book us about standing water on a flat roof and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack.
London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in Well Hall is checked before any drone flight, and permission is never taken for granted.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later, such as when you want to compare after future work.

Tips from our surveys
Small things make a difference. Some pointers:
- Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
- Check there’s room outside for the drone to take off
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Let us know what you want to see
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
Keep the roof space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation. Check insulation does not block the airflow.
The survey, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from each safe vantage point, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. Most visits take about one to two hours for a house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. If that applies to your building, it helps to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Otherwise, the visit in Well Hall runs like any other.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey

Honest limits
Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey. The full list of what we check.

Leave it or get it looked at?
On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. A drone survey finds them sooner. Behind a London parapet, a blocked gutter can sit full of water without anyone seeing it. By the time a ceiling stains, the timbers underneath may have been wet for a while.
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, with VAT included, and we can help you choose.

FAQs for Well Hall
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Well Hall?
Usually it is manageable with a little notice. Let us know what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Well Hall?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
What if my home is near an airport?
It depends on the airspace at your address. Flying inside a flight restriction zone needs permission from the airport or air traffic control, which can add time. Book early if you think you may be affected.
Will I get photos?
Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, which makes the report easy to follow.
What’s in the survey report?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.
Does the weather affect a drone survey?
Strong wind or a downpour stops a flight. The weather on the day decides whether the drone goes up. If it’s unsuitable, we will agree another date.
Airspace, weather and Well Hall roofs
Well Hall is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London City Airport. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up.
For businesses in and around places such as Lewisham Shopping Centre, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most. Take a building like Gordon Primary School: big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near St Barnabas, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What a survey costs
Not every roof costs the same to survey, for these reasons:
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and the package you choose.

What we look for on each type of roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Widespread slipping on slate typically means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Ridges and hips
Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.
