Drone roof survey in Worton
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it cannot see inside. Where there is safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that is where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there is no safe loft access, the report says so. We survey tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and fragile roofs, and people most often book us about worn lead at chimneys and walls and damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below.
In a small place like Worton, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photo. You will see the good as well as the bad.

How the survey works
You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes about 1–2 hours at most homes, and more on a big or complicated roof. In a hamlet or village like Worton, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets in another room
- Let us know about parking near the property
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Related advice
Worton: your questions answered
Will you come out to Worton?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Are there drone restrictions around Worton?
Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Worton is about 3 miles from Oxford Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We’ll rearrange with you if the weather is not right.
Do I need to be at home?
Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Let us know about it when you book and we will plan the survey around it.
How do I book a survey in Worton?
To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know the address and what you need to know. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.
What will the report tell me?
Written findings with photographs, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
When you need someone else
Before you book, it’s worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

Drone roof surveys in Worton: local notes
Worton is about 3 miles from Oxford Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. West Oxfordshire’s older buildings frequently carry Cotswold stone slates, and a few villages in the county keep their thatch. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
Historic houses such as Blenheim Palace, about 3 miles north, show how far back building around Worton goes. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. Take an older house close to Church of St Peter: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building like St Peter's Church of England Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Before and after the survey
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. Our suggestions:
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Check the loft can be reached
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
We email the report to you, including the close-up photos taken by the drone. Findings are set out in plain English, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
Leave it or get it looked at?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. For older village homes like those around Worton, the right replacement materials aren’t always easy to find quickly. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. You will know the figure before booking.

Checking the roof from ground level
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
