Letting agents and landlords in Denvilles book surveys as well as homeowners. The report gives you a dated record of the gutter, with photos, which helps you plan work between tenancies.

Gutter surveys for homes and businesses in Denvilles

Gutters have to slope gently towards the outlet or water sits in them. Sagging brackets and slipped joints leave water standing and overflowing where the gutter dips. We look along each run for sags, gaps and leaking joints, along with the brackets and downpipe fixings. Recommendations are written down and prioritised by urgency where relevant. If you are worried about downpipes that are split or coming away and soffits marked by water, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

Around Denvilles, gardens, hedges and nearby trees can mean leaves and moss end up on roofs and in gutters. Blocked gutters overflow and soak the walls below. It is the kind of slow problem a roof report picks up early. Plants growing from a gutter or moss on the tiles are signs worth noting from ground level.

Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

Common questions in Denvilles

Do you cover smaller places like Denvilles?

Yes, Denvilles is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.

Does being near the coast affect roofs in Denvilles?

Generally, yes: wind and salt air take more of a toll near the sea. Ridges, verges, flashings and fixings are where it typically shows, and Denvilles is within about 1 mile of the coast.

Will I get photos?

Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding.

What does the report include?

It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

How experienced are you?

We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.

How fast do I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.

Do you check valley and parapet gutters?

Yes, where it is safe to see them. We look from vantage points, the roof space and the roof itself where safe, and by drone where it is applicable.

Prices for gutter surveys in Denvilles

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see

Every price we give includes VAT. Our price is from £150, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.

What we need to know

These details help when you contact us:

  • Anything about access we should know
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors

You can call us seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

What we do, step by step

We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take about 1–2 hours for a house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. A visit to a smaller place like Denvilles is no different on the day: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.

  1. You tell us where you’ve seen overflows, drips or damp.
  2. The eaves gutters, downpipes and fascias are checked from ground level and windows.
  3. We check hidden gutters as far as safe access allows.
  4. Where it is safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
  5. A written report with photos and recommendations follows.

Tips that help

Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:

  • Have overhanging branches cut back
  • Book gutter clearing once a year, more frequently near trees
  • Look for green streaks or damp patches on walls
  • Check the loft with care after heavy rain

Once work is carried out, keep an eye on the gutters in the next downpour. Rain should flow to the outlets and down the downpipes, and if it doesn’t, raise it with whoever did the job.

Look at the gutters from indoors or the ground when it pours. Overflows and dripping joints are a sign to act before damage builds up.

Denvilles homes and their roofs

Denvilles lies within about 1 mile of the sea, where sea air brings more salt and stronger wind than inland. Near the sea, metal fixings wear faster and loose pieces on a roof are more likely to lift. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them.

The streets around a church such as St Thomas à Becket Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs. Anyone responsible for a site like Warblington School will know that its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale.

Denvilles is about 1 mile south-east of Havant, in Hampshire. In Denvilles, as across Hampshire, every roof gets the same careful survey. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire. There’s also a page for Portsmouth.

Gutter surveys in PO9 and PO10 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. We offer gutter surveys to properties on New Lane, Pook Lane and Elder Road and the roads around them. Neighbouring places we cover for gutter surveys include Warblington (1 mile south), Havant (1 mile north-west), Emsworth (1 mile east), Langstone (1 mile south-west) and Leigh Park (1 mile north-west). Larger places within reach include Gosport (9 miles south-west), Fareham (10 miles west), Horndean (4 miles north-west), Hedge End (15 miles west), Waterlooville (4 miles north-west) and Petersfield (10 miles north).

Local landmarks in Denvilles

We work in homes and buildings around Six Bells pub, St Albans Church and Fairfield Infant School, among other places. There is a railway station in Denvilles itself: Warblington station. Nearby you will also find Warblington Castle (0.7 miles south) and Havant War Memorial Hospital (1 mile west). Not far away are Brook Meadow (Emsworth).

Common roof problems in Denvilles

Sometimes a gutter struggles with the area of roof draining into it. An extension or extra roof slope can add water to an existing gutter, and a heavy downpour shows up the problem.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Gutters overflowing in heavy rain
  • Leaking or loose downpipes
  • Gutters that have fallen out of line
  • Rotten fascias or stained soffits

Landlords with a home close to Warblington station may find that a dated record of the roof is useful when planning maintenance across a let.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Whether the inside of the roof is included
  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • How much experience they have with roofs like yours

What to expect from a roof survey

What this survey can’t tell you

Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:

  • Gutters out of sight from each safe vantage point
  • Underground drains, which need a CCTV drain survey
  • What’s behind fascias and inside walls

If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.
