Jericho Gutter Survey
We take a careful look at the gutter at your property in Jericho, and put it all in a photo-illustrated written report.
- Gutters that have fallen out of line
- Gutters packed with leaves or moss
- Downpipes that are split or coming away
Gutter survey in Jericho
Gutters have to slope gently towards the outlet or water sits in them. When brackets sag or joints part, water pools, drips and spills over at the low points. We look along each run for sags, gaps and leaking joints and look at the brackets and downpipe clips. You get written recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. If you’ve noticed water spilling over the gutter edge and gutters that have fallen out of line, we can find out what’s behind it.
Houses in smaller places like Jericho can face open ground, where wind and driving rain hit the roof harder. Ridge tiles, verges, chimney stacks and flashings take the worst of it. A close look shows whether anything has started to loosen. Once one ridge tile or slate moves, wind gets under the next one too.
What you get is a clear record of the gutter on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

What a survey costs
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- The size of the roof
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Booking your survey
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- The property’s address and postcode
- Anything about access we should know
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
We confirm the price for the job before booking, so you know the cost up front. Gutter survey starts from £150, including VAT. For a price for your roof, call 07833 053749 or email us.
What we do, step by step
Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes about one to two hours at most homes, or half a day or so for a commercial building. If you have questions on the day, just ask. A visit to Jericho is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed beforehand. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.
- First, we agree the areas to focus on.
- We look along each run for debris, sagging and drips.
- Outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows are inspected.
- Fascias, soffits and the walls below are looked at for signs of overflow.
- Findings are photographed and set out in a written report.
Getting ready for the survey
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

What you can safely check yourself
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Jericho. For a price for a let property or a block, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What else we do in Jericho
What this survey cannot tell you
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- What’s behind fascias and inside walls
- Asbestos testing of old gutters, downpipes or soffits
- The inside of buried drains
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you book. The full list of what we check.

How the survey changes by roof type
Box and secret gutters
Hidden gutters are a common source of leaks inside. We look at the outlets, linings and overflows where safe.
Plastic (uPVC) gutters
Plastic can become brittle with age and crack. We check joints, brackets and the line of each run.
Gutter surveys around Jericho
Older buildings in west Oxfordshire often have Cotswold stone slate roofs, and some Oxfordshire villages still have thatch. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look. The wider area around Jericho has a long history of building, with Holywell Manor about 0.9 miles east. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like St Barnabas' Church of England Aided Primary School, its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near Clarendon Shopping Centre, a roof report helps plan work around trading rather than after a leak. If you own a rental within reach of Oxford station, a roof report helps you deal with small faults before they turn into a call from a tenant.

Jericho: your questions answered
How do I find out if my home in Jericho is listed?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Can a landlord with a rental near Oxford station book a roof survey?
Yes. We survey roofs for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as owners. You can phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you need.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. Mention any deadline when booking.
How many surveys have you done?
We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
What do I do with the report?
You receive the written report by email, with photographs and recommendations. It’s yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.
Does the season matter for a gutter survey?
You can book at any time of year. Before the wetter months gives you time to plan any work, and a wet spell can show where gutters overflow.
Does someone need to be in?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you when you book.
