Wendover Gutter Survey
Gutter surveys around Wendover, with findings in writing and pictures to back them up. Book a weekday or weekend visit.
- Dripping or leaking gutter joints
- Soffits marked by water
- Overflowing eaves gutters
Can I check my roof myself?
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
About our gutter survey in Wendover
Eaves gutters at the front of a building are easy to spot, but many are not. Valley, parapet, box and secret gutters can send water indoors when they overflow. We look at them as far as they can safely be seen using vantage points, the loft space and the roof itself where safe. Hidden gutters are a common source of leaks inside. We’re frequently asked to look into choked outlets or hopper heads and dripping or leaking gutter joints, across eaves gutters, valley gutters and parapet and box gutters.
In a smaller place like Wendover, homes range from older cottages to bungalows and newer houses. Older roofs can have slate, clay tiles or other traditional coverings, while many later ones have concrete tiles. On older homes, chimney stacks, valleys and gutters are normally where the work is. The fixings under an older roof often fail before good slates or tiles do.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

How we price gutter surveys
We confirm the exact price before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
For a price for your roof in Wendover, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Getting in touch
These details help when you contact us:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
Unsure which package suits your roof? The easiest way is to ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We will explain the options and the price.
When you need someone else
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- What’s hidden inside a downpipe
- Asbestos testing of old gutters, downpipes or soffits
- Parts of gutters that can’t be seen safely
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

Wendover homes and their roofs
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Whatever the covering, it is often the fixings, flashings, valleys and gutters that give out first. With Cholesbury Manor House about 3.9 miles east, Wendover sits in an area with a long building history. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Take a building like The John Hampden School: a written record of a large roof helps plan work for the holidays rather than in term time. For landlords with property near Wendover station, a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak.
Wendover is about 5 miles south-east of Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire. Bookings from Wendover are handled just like any other: a call or an email, a price, then a date. Across Buckinghamshire, we cover Wendover. You can also see our page for Milton Keynes.
We survey roofs across HP22 for gutter surveys. We cover properties on High Street, The Paddocks and Victory Road and the roads around them. Within a short drive, we also cover Aylesbury (5 miles north-west), High Wycombe (9 miles south), Chesham (7 miles south-east), Marlow (13 miles south), Amersham (9 miles south-east) and Beaconsfield (12 miles south).

Different roofs, different checks
Fascias and soffits
Soffits and timber fascias suffer when gutters overflow. They’re looked at as part of the survey.
Plastic (uPVC) gutters
Joints that have pulled apart are a common fault on plastic gutters. The report notes every one we spot.
When to book a survey in Wendover
Moss grows on many tiled and slate roofs, and rain washes it down into the gutters. With grit from the coverings, it forms a thick sludge that holds water in the gutter and lets weeds take root.
Here are some of the things we see often:
- Valley or box gutters that overflow inside
- Gutters full of debris and silt
- Gutters that have fallen out of line
- Leaks at the gutter joints
Take an older house close to Parish Church of St Mary: its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- Whether the inside of the roof is included

Wendover questions
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Wendover station?
Yes, letting agents and landlords book with us as well as owners. You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and some details.
Will you come out to Wendover?
Yes, Wendover is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Can you tell me if my old gutters contain asbestos?
No, that is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. On buildings from before 2000, we flag materials that could contain it so it can be checked before work starts.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.
Will you look at parapet and box gutters as well?
Yes. Hidden gutters are a common cause of leaks inside so we pay close attention to them. Parts of them may not be visible, and we’ll note that in the report.
Are you insured?
Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and details are available on request.
The survey, step by step
Every visit follows the same pattern: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. It usually takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Homes around Wendover often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Mention any side of the property we cannot get to. The loft, where there is safe access, completes the picture.
- You tell us where you’ve seen overflows, drips or damp.
- The eaves gutters, downpipes and fascias are looked at from ground level and windows.
- We look at hidden gutters as far as safe access allows.
- Where it is safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
- You receive a report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking near the property
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
