Your questions about gutter surveys in Wraysbury

Do you cover smaller places like Wraysbury?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Sunnymeads station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and what you need.

Do you need to get into the loft?

Yes, where the survey calls for it and there’s safe access. Inside, we look for damp, staining, gaps and sagging.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. We look at the parts we are given access to.

What will the report tell me?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, and ends with what we recommend. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.

What do I do with the report?

The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

How do I arrange a gutter survey in Wraysbury?

Simply call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.

Gutter survey in Wraysbury

We check the rainwater system above ground level: gutters, outlets, hoppers, downpipes and overflows. It’s not a CCTV drain survey, so we can’t see inside underground pipes. Where water seems to be backing up from below ground, we will say so in the report, so you can get the drains checked separately. Anything we find above ground, such as a split hopper or a leaking downpipe, is photographed and recorded. We survey valley gutters, outlets and hoppers and fascias and soffits, and common reasons people get in touch are choked outlets or hopper heads and sagging gutters and loose brackets.

Around Wraysbury, gardens, hedges and nearby trees can mean leaves and moss end up on roofs and in gutters. Blocked gutters overflow and soak the walls below. It is the kind of slow problem a roof report picks up early. Moss on the roof and weeds in the gutter are both easy to spot from ground level.

The report records the gutter as we found it on the day. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later.

What we’re asked to look at in Wraysbury

Many people get in touch after seeing water pour over a gutter in heavy rain. Others notice a damp wall, a stained ceiling or a green streak down the brickwork. A survey helps show where the water is coming from before more damage is done.

Problems we come across often include:

  • Leaking or loose downpipes
  • Overflowing eaves gutters
  • Gutters that have fallen out of line
  • Blocked outlets and hoppers

For landlords with property near Sunnymeads station, a roof report helps you deal with small faults before they turn into a call from a tenant.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • What the report includes, and whether it has photos
  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?

What a good roof survey covers

Gutter surveys around Wraysbury

Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look. The wider area around Wraysbury has a long history of building, with Frogmore House about 1.8 miles north-west. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.

Living close to Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve is pleasant, but mature trees mean leaves in gutters and valleys each autumn, so outlets and downpipes are worth watching. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Andrew, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look.

Wraysbury is about 2 miles north of Egham, in Surrey. In Wraysbury, as across Surrey, every roof gets the same careful survey. Our Surrey coverage includes Wraysbury and the places around it. Our Guildford page covers surveys nearby.

DIY checks: what’s safe

It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

How we price gutter surveys

The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:

  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • How big the roof is

We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

Booking your survey

A little information up front helps. Please include:

  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat

To book a survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. You’ll know the price before anything is booked.

The survey, step by step

We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there’s safe access. All told, expect about one to two hours on an ordinary house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Being in a smaller place like Wraysbury doesn’t change how the visit works: we look from the ground, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. It’s useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.

  1. We start with what you’ve noticed, such as damp or overflowing gutters.
  2. We walk round the building and check the gutters, downpipes and fascias from the ground.
  3. Valleys, parapets and box gutters are inspected where they can safely be seen.
  4. Where it’s safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
  5. A written report with photos and recommendations follows.

Before we arrive

  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Jot down any questions you want answered

Useful tips for Wraysbury property owners

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner:

  • Ask for valleys and parapet gutters to be cleared too
  • Look out for overflows when it pours
  • Don’t climb a ladder to look in the gutters
  • Make sure downpipe clips are holding

If we think the problem lies underground, we will say so, so you can arrange a drain survey. We also note anything else we spot on the roof while we’re there.

Watch your gutters from ground level or a window during heavy rain. Water spilling over the edge or out of a joint is a sign that something needs attention before the walls suffer.

For landlords and managing agents

If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the addresses.

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer.
