Roof surveys across GU32: what to expect
Our roof survey gives you a clear picture of your roof’s condition. We look at the coverings, the ridges and hips, the valleys and flashings, the chimneys and the gutters, and the loft space where there is safe access. You get a written report with photos and recommendations. Where it helps, we say which items are urgent and which can wait. Typical surveys look at crumbling chimney pointing or cracked flaunching and condensation or damp timbers in the loft, across the roof space, flat roofs and ridges, hips and valleys.
It’s useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. Most visits take about 1–2 hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time.
- We start by hearing what you’d like checked and why.
- We agree a date, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- We inspect from ground level, from windows, from the loft space and from the roof where safe.
- Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all examined and photographed.
- We email a written report with photos and recommendations.
What you’ll pay
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

What’s near East Meon
We work in homes and buildings around East Meon Church of England Controlled Primary School, The George Inn and Church of All Saints, among other places. The nearest railway station is Petersfield station, about 4.1 miles east of the centre. A little further out are Clanfield Earthwork (3.9 miles south-east) and Petersfield Community Hospital (4 miles east). The countryside around East Meon includes Pidham Hill and Shutts Copse.
Roofs, chimneys and gutters across GU32
From Petersfield, East Meon and Sheet to smaller places, people across GU32 use a roof survey to plan ahead. Small faults, caught early, are far easier to deal with.
Several airports in London and the South East have flight restriction zones around them, so every drone flight in GU32 is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Flights that need permission only go ahead once it is given.
East Meon: Anyone responsible for a site like East Meon Church of England Controlled Primary School will know that a written record of a large roof helps plan work for the holidays rather than in term time. If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of All Saints, old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs.
Prices for roof surveys in GU32
Survey packages start from £150, with VAT included. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- House, block, shop or office
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.
What we need to know
Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
Prices start from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email to find out.
What this survey can’t tell you
To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:
- Confirmation of asbestos in soffits or cement sheets
- Walls, floors and services below the roof
- An exact number of years the roof has left
Before and after the survey
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:
- Mention any damp patches when you book
- File the report with your home documents
- Move stored items away from the loft hatch
- Check the roof from ground level after storms
Standard includes a follow-up consultation to talk the findings through, while Premium includes a consultation in person. You can ask us about anything that isn’t clear.
Have gutters and valleys cleared regularly, particularly after autumn. Use a gutter contractor rather than climbing a ladder yourself. Most overflow damage starts with a blocked gutter.
Different roofs, different checks
Natural slate
From the loft, we look at the underside of a slate roof. Older roofs may have bitumen felt underlay, and very old roofs none, and we note its condition.
Flat roof coverings
Ponding, blistering, splits and cracked surfaces are the common warning signs. Upstands and outlets are checked too, since leaks frequently start there.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking and it will help the survey.
Questions from GU32
Do you carry out asbestos surveys?
No. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain asbestos. We flag materials that could contain it, and a specialist asbestos surveyor should check them.
Is a roof survey the same as a structural survey?
No. Where we see something that needs a structural engineer, the report says so. We don’t provide structural calculations.
How long does a roof survey take?
The visit normally takes an hour or two at most homes, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. We’ll confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.
Do you work in GU32?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and that includes GU32.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where applicable and safe. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. If the conditions are not right, we’ll talk to you about another date.
Do you go up on the roof?
Only when it is safe. We also use views from ground level, windows and the roof space, and Premium includes a drone where applicable.
