About our roof leak investigation in Palestine
We investigate roof leaks in Palestine and across London and the South East. We visit seven days a week. We look inside and out, at flashings, valleys, chimneys, gutters and flat roof details. The findings come in a written report with photos. If water is coming in now, catch it in a bucket and keep it away from lights and sockets, then call 07833 053749 or email us. We survey lead flashings, the roof space and flat roof details, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are water coming in around a roof light or dormer and brown rings on upstairs ceilings.
Being in a small place like Palestine makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: the journey and access are just planned ahead of time. It’s useful to know where the water appears, in what weather, and what you’ve seen outside, along with any repairs done before. If you have photos of the water coming in, they help as well.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Palestine questions
Will you come out to Palestine?
Yes, Palestine is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Do you cover Palestine?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and Palestine is part of that. You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and some details, and we will talk through which survey suits.
Do you use thermal imaging to find leaks?
Where conditions suit, it can. It works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind. Damp areas can hold heat differently from dry ones. We always check what it shows with moisture readings.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
When does the report arrive?
Report times are set by the package. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline when booking.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest.
How the survey works
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, from ground level, from windows, in the loft space and by drone where it applies. Most surveys take between one and two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Cottages and farmhouses around Palestine often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- You pick a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- The investigation works from the stain back to the roof.
- Moisture detection and thermal imaging are used where your package includes them and they help.
- You get photos, the likely cause and clear recommendations.

How the survey changes by roof type
Slate and tile slopes
A gap in the coverings exposes the underlay. Ageing felt eventually lets water through.
Parapet and box gutters
We check the linings, joints and outlets where we can see them safely.
Can I check my roof myself?
It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
Wind, rain and roofs in Palestine
With Idmiston Manor about 4.7 miles south-west, Palestine sits in an area with a long building history. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Knowing the roof type helps narrow down where water may be getting in.
Landlords with a home close to Grateley station may find that a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Grateley Primary School, tracing a leak on a big roof starts with where the water appears and works back.

Before and after the survey
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:
- Take dated photos of the leak
- Catch drips in a bucket and protect the floor
- Check whether pipes or tanks run near the stain
- Record whether it leaks in every downpour or only some
Any roofer you ask to quote can work from the report. The photos show the defects and where they are, rather than at the stain.
Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, particularly in autumn. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet. Leave the clearing to someone with the right equipment.
What we’re asked to look at in Palestine
A chimney stack has lots of places for rain to get in. Water can enter through crumbling mortar, cracked flaunching, worn flashings or uncapped pots. It can show up on the chimney breast, nearby ceilings or in the loft space.
Look out for signs like these:
- Wet patches high on an inside wall
- Brown rings on upstairs ceilings
- Leaks below a flat extension roof
- Water coming in around a roof light or dormer
For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Leonard, lead flashings, valleys and old chimneys are typical places for water to get in.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- What follow-up you get after the report
