Roof survey in Nashes Green, Hampshire
A roof condition survey for homes and buildings in Nashes Green. More than 5,000 surveys completed across London and South East England.
- Valley linings that have cracked or split
- Water stains on rafters and ceiling joists
- Flashings that have come away from the wall
What this survey cannot tell you
We only report what can be seen safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- The condition of the rest of the building (that is a RICS home survey)
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- A promise that the roof will not leak in future
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will recommend the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.

How a roof survey works in Nashes Green
Our roof surveys cover Nashes Green and the wider South East. Visits run seven days a week. We’re insured for professional indemnity and public liability, and bring 20+ years’ experience. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photos and recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. When you are ready to book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We survey ridges, hips and valleys, clay and concrete tiles and chimney stacks, and people most frequently book us about crumbling chimney pointing or cracked flaunching and ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs.
Somewhere as small as Nashes Green, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses, with outbuildings and some newer houses. Roofs there can be clay tile, slate, stone or thatch, and chimney stacks are frequently old. We report on everything that’s safely in view, and thatch is a specialist material. Chimneys and lead flashings on old roofs frequently need the most attention.
It isn’t only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend.

Practical tips
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Stay off ladders and the roof
- Gather any paperwork for past roof work
- Make sure we can open the loft hatch
- Let us know about any leaks or stains you’ve seen
Keep the report with your property records. It’s a useful baseline for future surveys, and buyers may ask about the roof when you sell.
Plan a roof survey every few years, or sooner after severe weather. Regular checks catch problems while they’re small. Each report gives a record to compare against.
Why it’s worth a survey now in Nashes Green
It is easier to plan roof work than to react to it. A survey lets you deal with things in order of urgency, rather than calling someone out after a storm. Matching old materials, like handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That’s one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Nashes Green
Historic houses like Hall Place, about 3.3 miles south, show how far back building in the area around Nashes Green goes. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters. Lasham Airfield is about 2 miles from Nashes Green. If your survey includes the drone, the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions first.
If you let a flat or house near Alton station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints. Take an older house close to Church of St. Mary: old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs.

Your questions about roof surveys in Nashes Green
Is drone flying allowed in Nashes Green?
Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Nashes Green is about 2 miles from Lasham Airfield, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Will you come out to Nashes Green?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.
What if it rains on the day?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions aren’t right, we will talk to you about another date.
How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.
Can you tell me how long my roof will last?
Not as an exact number, since the fixings, underlay and maintenance all play a part. What we do is explain the roof’s condition and what to deal with first.
Are you insured?
We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
What we look for on each type of roof
Natural slate
Many Victorian and Edwardian houses have slate roofs. Widespread slipping normally points to corroded nails, and we say how widespread it looks.
Clay plain and peg tiles
Clay tiles are common on older South East homes. Rotten pegs and battens let tiles move, leaving gaps along the courses.
How the survey works
When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen, from the ground, from windows, in the loft space and by drone where applicable. Most surveys take an hour or two for most houses, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Cottages and farmhouses around Nashes Green often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- You tell us the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- Outside, we inspect from ground level, windows and other safe vantage points, and from the roof where safe.
- Inside, we check the loft space where there’s safe access.
- You receive the report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency.
Before the survey
- Keep pets in another room
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Note where any stains or damp appear
