Roof survey in Regents Park: what you get
There is no single reason to have a roof surveyed. Some have seen a mark on a ceiling or bits of tile in the garden, others want a check before selling or after years without one. Whatever the reason, the survey works the same way: we inspect carefully and explain what we see in writing. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, so finding a time is rarely difficult. If you’ve noticed standing water on a flat roof and loose ridge or hip tiles, we can find out what’s behind it.
In a smaller place like Regents Park, some roofs stand more exposed to wind and rain than in a built-up town. That weather tells first on ridges, verges, chimneys and flashings. A close look shows whether anything has started to loosen before it lets water in. A loose ridge tile or slate gives the wind something to catch, and others soon follow.
The report is written in plain words, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Photographs show what each point refers to.

Honest limits
No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:
- Faults hidden behind ceilings or boarding
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
- How the roof will behave in every kind of weather

What a roof survey looks like in Regents Park
Regents Park is within about 1 mile of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. On roofs like these, good slates or tiles can outlast the nails, battens, lead and mortar around them.
If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of the Holy Trinity, the nails, lead and mortar on the roof may be wearing out even where the slates or tiles look fine. Trees in and around St James' Park shed leaves that can end up in nearby gutters. Landlords with a home close to Millbrook (Hants) station may find that the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.

FAQs for Regents Park
I let a flat near Millbrook (Hants) station. Can you check the roof?
Of course. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and the report can go straight to you or your agent.
Is Regents Park within the area you cover?
Yes, Regents Park is covered. We work right across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Do you give a life expectancy for the roof?
We do not put a figure on it, since the fixings, underlay and maintenance all play a part. Instead, we set out what’s sound, what’s wearing and what to do first.
Do you inspect the roof from on top?
When the roof and the conditions make it safe, yes. Many roofs can be seen well from windows, vantage points and the loft, and Premium includes a drone where applicable.
How long will you be at the property?
The visit usually takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. We’ll give you an idea of timing when booking.
What do you check on a roof survey?
We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, plus the loft space where there’s safe access. You get a written report with photos and recommendations.
How quickly will I get the report?
It depends on the package: within 48 hours for Basic, 24 to 48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium. It’s emailed to you.
What you can safely check yourself
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Roof by roof
Natural slate
From the loft, we check the underside of a slate roof. Older roofs may have bitumen felt underlay, and very old roofs none, and we note its condition.
Concrete interlocking tiles
On low-pitched roofs, the laps and fixings of interlocking tiles matter. Lifted or cracked tiles are noted.

Why act early in Regents Park
Planned work is less stressful than an emergency. With a report, you can tackle the urgent jobs first and plan the rest, rather than calling someone out after a storm. With lower homes, common in places like Regents Park, there’s little between a roof defect and the ceiling, so a small leak can mark a ceiling within a few storms. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Prices start from £150, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

What we do, step by step
Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys. A visit to a smaller place like Regents Park is no different on the day: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. It helps to show us anything you’ve already noticed.
- You let us know about the property and any concerns.
- We agree a date, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- The roof is inspected from the ground, windows, the loft and the roof itself where it is safe.
- Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all examined and photographed.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Leave a clear route to the loft
