Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Chambers' Green

When a storm has damaged your roof, a written record can help you explain it to your insurer. Our report shows the damage in photos and says whether it looks like storm damage, wear and tear, or a mix. We are not loss adjusters, and we can’t say whether a claim will be paid. What we give you is an independent record of the roof. If you’re worried about flat roof edges peeled back and flashings pulled away from walls or stacks, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

Roofs in small places like Chambers' Green often stand in the open, where storms hit ridges, verges and chimneys hardest. Damp in old stone, brick or timber walls is slow to dry out, which makes finding the cause quickly worthwhile. A written record also helps if you need to explain it to anyone else.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What affects the price in Chambers' Green

Prices vary from roof to roof, for these reasons:

  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • Height and safe access
  • Roof area

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how safely it can be seen. Prices start from £150, including VAT.

Helping us price your survey

If you can, have these to hand when you contact us:

  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • Anything about access we should know
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange

We survey roofs seven days a week. To arrange a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

The survey, step by step

We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. Most visits take about one to two hours at most homes, and longer for a large or complex roof. Cottages and farmhouses around Chambers' Green frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
  2. We look at the roof from wherever it’s safe.
  3. Each area of damage is photographed and described.
  4. The report notes whether the damage fits a storm, older wear or both.
  5. We send you the report by email for your insurer.

Preparing for the visit

  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors

Chambers' Green roofs and the weather

Historic houses like Godinton House, about 3.7 miles east, show how far back building in the area around Chambers' Green goes. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Older houses across Kent often have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Where water gets in depends a good deal on what the roof is made of and how it’s detailed.

For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Nicholas, water on an older roof tends to find its way in at the lead, the valleys or the chimney. If you own a rental within reach of Pluckley station, tracing a leak quickly matters when a tenant is living with it. Take a building like Pluckley Church of England Primary School: a leak through a large roof is often found some distance from where the water shows inside.

Chambers' Green: your questions answered

Do you cover Chambers' Green?

We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos.

Do you cover smaller places like Chambers' Green?

Yes, we do. We work right across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

How do I book a survey in Chambers' Green?

To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.

How long does the survey take?

Expect it to take about one to two hours at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. You’ll then get the report by email, on the timescale of your package.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Tell us about it when you book and we’ll explain what’s needed.

Will my insurer pay out if I get a storm damage report?

Only your insurer can decide that. We record the damage, with photographs and the likely cause, for you to give to your insurer.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The loft space can show things the outside can’t, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.

Why act early in Chambers' Green

Damage left open lets in more rain. Further water damage can blur what the storm actually did. A roofer should deal with emergency protection quickly. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.

What this survey cannot tell you

It is a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:

  • What’s beneath slates, tiles or membranes
  • How your policy defines a storm
  • Repair costs or quotes for the work

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll suggest the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.

What we check

  • Flashings
  • Flat roofs
  • Ridges and hips
  • Gutters and fascias
  • Chimney stacks
  • Slate and tile slopes

For landlords and managing agents

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

Checking the roof from the ground

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
