Storm Damage Roof Report in Holland Park
Independent storm damage roof reports in Holland Park. We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
- Loose or broken chimney pots and cowls
- Broken or displaced guttering
- Lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles
Why get it checked now?
Once the storm has passed, damage that looked minor can let water in for months. Acting quickly usually means less damage overall. In a London terrace or conversion, a roof defect rarely stays your problem alone: failed flashings and blocked valley gutters can send water into more than one home. Dealing with it early is far less disruptive.
There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
What you get with us

How a storm damage roof report works in Holland Park
High winds usually affect the parts of a roof that are already exposed or loose. Slates and tiles slip or blow off, ridge and hip tiles lift, flashings pull away and flat roof coverings can tear. Falling branches can cause damage too. We record the damage on your roof and photograph each part. Any older wear we can see is recorded as well. We survey slate and tile slopes, flat roofs and chimney stacks, and people most often book us about gutters pulled loose in the wind and new damp or leaks inside.
In converted houses and blocks across London, water from a roof can run a long way before it shows on a ceiling, sometimes in a different flat from the one below the defect. Tracing it back matters, both for dealing with the cause and for any insurance claim. We check what we are given access to in Holland Park, inside and out. It helps to know when the water appears and in what weather.
Where we cannot see part of the roof, the report says so. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Booking your survey
The more you let us know, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, it is useful to mention:
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- What made you get in touch
- Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know where you stand. Our price is from £150, including VAT. For a price for your roof, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
For landlords and managing agents
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll plan the visit with that in mind.
What a storm damage roof report looks like in Holland Park
Close to the centre of London, a great many houses are Victorian or Edwardian terraces, many of them roofed in Welsh slate. Many have butterfly roofs draining to a central valley gutter, with parapet walls and gutters hidden behind them. If your home in Holland Park is one of them, lead flashings, party-wall upstands and shared chimney stacks are part of the picture too. Different coverings let water in at different points, which shapes where the search starts. The wider area around Holland Park has a long history of building, with Leighton House about 0.4 miles south. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.
For landlords with property near Kensington Olympia station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused. For businesses in and around places such as Kensington Arcade, water through a ceiling can damage stock and close a sales floor, so the source needs finding fast. Anyone responsible for a site like Holland Park School will know that on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.

What this survey cannot tell you
We only report everything that’s safely in view on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- What your policy covers, which depends on its wording
- Areas we can’t see safely
- A price for the repairs
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.
Roof types and parts we check
- Flashings
- Flat roofs
- Slate and tile slopes
- Ridges and hips
- Gutters and fascias
- Chimney stacks
Checking the roof from ground level
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
Questions from Holland Park
How do I find out if my home in Holland Park is listed?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Do you cover Holland Park?
We do. The survey and report are the same in Holland Park as anywhere else, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Does your report mean my claim will be accepted?
The decision is your insurer’s, not ours. We record the damage, with photos and the likely cause, for you to give to your insurer.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
How long does the survey take?
It usually takes an hour or two at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. You’ll then get the report by email.
What if my insurer declines the claim?
Complain to your insurer first. If you’re still unhappy, you may be able to take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. An independent report can add to your evidence, but we cannot say how it will turn out.
How strong does the wind have to be for a storm claim?
It depends on your policy. Many policies treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, but it varies. Your policy document will say.
What happens on the day
We do not take risks to get a closer look. We inspect what can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted in the report. The survey typically takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so the back of the roof is often seen from upstairs windows, from inside or, where a flight is allowed, from the air. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents as you book.
- You tell us what happened and whether a roofer has made the roof safe.
- We check inside, including the loft where there’s access, for water damage.
- The roof is inspected from ground level, windows and the roof where it’s safe.
- Storm damage and older wear are recorded separately where we can.
- You receive the written report with photographs.
How to prepare
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Leave a clear route to the loft
