Storm damage roof report in North Brixton
Our storm damage report starts from £150. It’s a written report with photos, sent by email. It doesn’t price the repairs, so ask a roofer to quote for the work. Your insurer may also send its own loss adjuster. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause. We survey flat roofs, slate and tile slopes and chimney stacks, and people most frequently book us about lead lifted at abutments and lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles.
In a London flat, water can travel some way before it shows, sometimes in a different flat from the one below the defect. Tracing it back matters, both for dealing with the cause and for any insurance claim. In North Brixton, we inspect what we can reach safely and are given access to. It’s useful to know when the water appears and in what weather.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What we do, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from each safe vantage point, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. It typically takes about one to two hours at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. Many London properties are flats or terraces with no side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. If the building has a managing agent or access rules, tell us when you book.
- First you give us the date of the storm and what you’ve noticed, inside and out.
- We view the roof from wherever it can be seen safely, including the loft where there’s access.
- We photograph and record every area of damage we can see.
- The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
- We send you a written report with photos, ready to give to your insurer.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Find any records of previous roof work

What else we do in North Brixton
Can I check my roof myself?
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Your questions about storm damage roof reports in North Brixton
Do you cover North Brixton?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
How do I find out if my home in North Brixton is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
How many surveys have you done?
We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of clients are satisfied.
My storm claim was turned down. What now?
Complain to your insurer first. After that, the Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to look at it. An independent report can add to your evidence, though we cannot predict the outcome.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
What we can’t see
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- What your policy covers, which depends on its wording
- Acting for you with the insurer
- Whether your insurer will pay the claim
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. What our survey covers.

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work around your tenants.
How we price storm damage roof reports
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- The shape of the roof and its details
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.
Booking your survey
When you call or email, these details help:
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- What made you get in touch
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or send us an email when you’re ready.
Why get it checked now?
Your policy may say how quickly you need to report damage. Check the wording and tell your insurer as soon as you can. An independent report can follow. Work on a London roof is rarely simple to arrange, with parking, neighbours and access all to think about. Knowing what’s needed early gives you time to plan it calmly, rather than in a rush after a leak.
To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Leaks and storm damage in North Brixton
Close to the centre of London, a great many houses are Victorian or Edwardian terraces, many of them roofed in Welsh slate. Many have butterfly roofs draining to a central valley gutter, with parapet walls and gutters hidden behind them. If your home in North Brixton is one of them, lead flashings, party-wall upstands and shared chimney stacks are part of the picture too. Different coverings let water in at different points, which shapes where the search starts. With Buckingham Palace about 2.3 miles north-west, North Brixton sits in an area with a long building history. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.
If you own a rental within reach of Loughborough Junction station, a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over. Living close to Max Roach Park is pleasant, but mature trees mean leaves in gutters and valleys each autumn. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Van Gogh Academy, tracing a leak on a big roof starts with where the water appears and works back.
