Thermal roof surveys around Earlswood

The flight restriction zone around Redhill Aerodrome covers Earlswood, or comes right up to its edge. If your survey includes the drone, we ask the aerodrome for permission first, and only fly if it’s given. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

If you run a business near The Belfry, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see from the air or with a thermal camera.

Earlswood is about 1 mile south of Redhill, in Surrey. We provide thermal roof surveys for householders, landlords and businesses in Earlswood and nearby. Our Surrey coverage includes Earlswood and the places around it. There’s also a page for Crawley.

Thermal roof survey in Earlswood: what you get

Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photos, so it’s easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. Premium reports are sent the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If you are worried about water getting in at parapets and stacks and cold spots on ceilings under the roof, we can find out what’s behind it.

Places like Earlswood can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Tips that help

A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:

  • Take photos of stains as they appear, so we can compare
  • Check from the ground or a window, never by climbing
  • Move stored items away from the loft hatch
  • Keep outlets and gutters clear to stop water sitting

Premium Surveys include an in-person consultation, so you can go through the images with us. A follow-up 12 months later is included as well.

Keep an eye on ceilings under the roof for new stains. Early action keeps insulation from staying wet.

Can I check my roof myself?

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.

Common questions in Earlswood

Do you cover smaller places like Earlswood?

Yes. Earlswood is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Is Earlswood in the area you cover?

Yes, Earlswood is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos.

How fast do I get the report?

It depends on the package: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.

Does thermal imaging detect leaks directly?

No, not on its own. It shows surface temperature, and wet areas can show up because they hold heat differently. That is why we check any patterns with moisture readings.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.

What does the report include?

It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, backed by photos. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.

What do I do with the report?

You will receive the report by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.

What we can’t see

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • A structural engineer’s assessment
  • A formal energy assessment
  • Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll recommend the right survey before booking. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Loft conversions
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Flat roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Commercial roofs

When to book a survey in Earlswood

Some defects simply cannot be seen with the eye. Trapped moisture, missing insulation and hidden heat loss are three examples. A thermal camera adds another way of finding them.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Gaps in loft insulation
  • Areas of a flat roof that may hold water
  • Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
  • Water getting in at parapets and stacks

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St John's Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Their insurance cover
  • How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • What follow-up you get after the report

What a good roof survey covers

How the survey works

We do not take risks to get a closer look. We inspect what can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take about 1–2 hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. Parking around Earlswood is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can frequently be seen well from ground level, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.

  1. You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
  3. We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.

Before the survey

  • If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Leave a clear route to the loft

Booking a survey

What we look for on each type of roof

Pitched slate and tile roofs

Thermal images of a pitched roof can still show heat loss patterns and some damp areas. We explain what can and cannot be read from them.

Single-ply and EPDM roofs

On larger commercial single-ply roofs, thermal imaging can help target moisture readings. That makes the survey more focused.
