Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Felcourt

Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photographs, so it is easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. Premium reports are sent the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. Common reasons to book are heat escaping through the roof and damp around chimneys and parapets, across ceilings below the roof, pitched roof slopes and flat roofs.

In a small place like Felcourt, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

The report is written in plain words, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Photos show what each point refers to, with the urgent items made clear.

Questions from Felcourt

Do you carry out roof surveys in Felcourt?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, and Felcourt is part of that. You can call 07833 053749 or email us with the address and some details.

Is my home in Felcourt listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

What conditions are best for thermal imaging?

The weather makes a real difference. It works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind. Rain, wind and heavy cloud can weaken the patterns, so we talk through the forecast when booking.

Which survey includes thermal imaging?

Thermal imaging is included in our Premium Survey, from £400. That also includes a full inspection, a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a same-day report.

How quickly is the report sent?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email.

How long is the visit?

That depends on the size and shape of the roof, but most surveys take about one to two hours at a typical home, or half a day or so for a commercial building. The report is sent afterwards by email.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Let us know your preferred days when you book.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys

The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:

  • How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Building height and the viewpoints available

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

What to tell us when you get in touch

You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just tell us:

  • Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
  • Anything about access we should know
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • What kind of property and roof it is

Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To get started, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

When you need someone else

Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
  • A formal energy assessment
  • Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

How it works

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey normally takes an hour or two at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Somewhere as small as Felcourt, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. We talk through the roof, any damp or leaks, and the weather expected on the day.
  2. The roof is inspected visually from safe viewpoints.
  3. A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
  4. Any patterns of interest are checked with moisture readings where we can reach them.
  5. You get a report with thermal images, photos and our recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
  • Keep pets in another room

Advice

What you can safely check yourself

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Why it is worth a survey now in Felcourt

Once insulation under a membrane is wet, it tends to stay wet. In time, it stops insulating properly and can damage the deck. Finding the wet areas sooner keeps the work smaller. In a small place like Felcourt, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
