Thermal roof survey in Frogmill: what you get

Thermal imaging is part of our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. You also get a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day. There is an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. To book, just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. If you are worried about water getting in at parapets and stacks and possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on insulated roof spaces, loft conversions and commercial roofs alike.

In a village or hamlet like Frogmill, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit, and the journey is planned in advance. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Drones, thermal imaging and Frogmill roofs

Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. If the drone is used for your survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Hotels and guest houses near Frogmill cannot easily close rooms for a leak. If you look after a building such as Danesfield School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Tips that help

Getting the most from a thermal roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:

  • Take photos of stains as they appear, so we can compare
  • Leave the roof to people with safe access
  • Remember the conditions on the day affect the results
  • File the images with your roof records

You also get an in-person consultation with a Premium Survey, so you can go through the images with us. There is a 12-month follow-up too.

Keep an eye on ceilings under the roof for new stains. Early action keeps insulation from staying wet.

When to book a survey in Frogmill

Building owners and managing agents use thermal surveys to plan work on larger flat roofs. It can suggest which areas may be wet and which seem dry, so moisture readings can be targeted.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
  • Missing or slipped insulation
  • Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
  • Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Before you book anyone

  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
  • What they won’t be able to tell you
  • What experience they bring
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance

What a good roof survey covers

Common questions in Frogmill

How do I find out if my home in Frogmill is listed?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Is Frogmill in the area you cover?

Yes, Frogmill is within the area we cover. Our area covers London and the South East. You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and some details.

What does a thermal roof survey show?

It records surface temperature across the roof. Differences can suggest wet areas, missing insulation or heat loss, and we check them with moisture readings.

How many surveys have you done?

Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

What’s in the survey report?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. Points are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

What affects the price in Frogmill

To price your survey, we look at:

  • House, block, shop or office
  • How big the roof is
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Getting in touch

To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:

  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • The property’s address and postcode
  • Dates you are working to, such as exchange

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What you can safely check yourself

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we check everything we can see safely, from the ground, from windows, in the roof space and by drone where it applies. Most surveys take about one to two hours on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a hamlet or village like Frogmill, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
  2. The roof is inspected visually from safe positions.
  3. We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
  4. Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
  5. Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking near the property
  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

What this survey cannot tell you

To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:

  • Structural calculations, which need a structural engineer
  • Proving moisture from the images alone
  • Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
