Independent thermal roof surveys in Laleham

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed in advance. Surveys run seven days a week, which helps when tenants work during the week.

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Thermal roof survey in Laleham

A thermal camera can help when the cause of damp isn’t obvious. Water can travel some distance under a roof covering before it shows inside, and temperature patterns can help us trace where it may have come from. We combine the images with a visual inspection and moisture readings, so the findings don’t rely on the camera alone. If you’ve noticed water that travels before it shows and damp around roof outlets and upstands, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Even in a smaller place like Laleham, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.

It is not only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

Can I check my roof myself?

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

Honest limits

Before you book, it is worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • The condition of timbers we cannot see
  • Seeing water directly, as the camera shows temperature, not moisture
  • Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you before you book. What our survey covers.

Thermal roof surveys in Laleham: local notes

Many older homes in Surrey have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. With Botleys Mansion about 3.4 miles south-west, Laleham sits in an area with a long building history. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years.

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of All Saints, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help. If you look after a building such as Laleham CofE VA Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Laleham is about 1 mile south-east of Staines-upon-Thames, in Surrey. Wherever you are in Laleham, we can come and survey your property. Laleham is one of the towns and villages in Surrey where we work. We also survey roofs in Guildford.

Every address in TW18 is within our area for thermal roof surveys, from the main roads to the quietest streets. What affects the price in Laleham

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • Which survey package you book
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • How big the roof is
  • How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages

To find out what your survey will cost, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a few details. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.

Laleham: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Laleham?

Yes, Laleham is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Laleham?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

What can thermal imaging tell me about my roof?

A thermal camera shows differences in surface temperature. The patterns can suggest wet insulation, gaps in insulation or heat escaping. Findings are checked with moisture readings.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Yes, where it’s applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.

How many surveys have you done?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes, once access has been agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so we need permission from whoever owns or manages the building. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.

Does the report include photographs?

Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.

What happens on the day

You do not need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll take it from there. The survey itself takes about one to two hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Being in a smaller place like Laleham doesn’t change how the visit works: we look from the ground, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it is safe. It is useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.

  1. First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
  2. The roof is inspected visually from safe positions.
  3. Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there’s safe access, in the loft.
  4. Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
  5. The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • Keep pets in another room
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the building owner or managing agent

Booking a survey

Booking is simple: just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and give us some details about the property and we will recommend the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

Advice

Roof by roof

Loft insulation

Heat loss shows most clearly when it’s warm inside and colder outside. Our report notes how the conditions affected the images.

Single-ply and EPDM roofs

Thin membranes can show patterns from the layers beneath. Reflections from shiny surfaces can affect readings, which we allow for.
