Longparish Thermal Roof Survey
Find out the condition of the roof at your property in Longparish from an independent roof surveyor. Visits run on weekdays and weekends, in the daytime.
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
- Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
- Damp that repairs haven’t cured
Can I check my roof myself?
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date.
Thermal roof survey in Longparish
Your report sets out the thermal images alongside ordinary photos, so it is easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. Premium reports are sent the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. We survey loft conversions, commercial roofs and insulated roof spaces, and common reasons people get in touch are areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions and areas of a flat roof that may hold water.
Somewhere as small as Longparish, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It is useful straight away, and a good reference for later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Before replacing a large flat roof, it’s useful to know how much of it is actually wet. Thermal imaging, checked with moisture readings, gives a clearer picture before you spend. Older and listed buildings around Longparish may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.

What a thermal roof survey looks like in Longparish
If your home is older, it’s worth knowing whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
The streets around a church such as Church of St Nicholas are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. If you look after a building such as Longparish Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

FAQs for Longparish
Is Longparish in the area you cover?
We do. The survey and report are the same in Longparish as anywhere else.
Is my home in Longparish listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Does thermal imaging work on slate and tile roofs?
It can be useful, though pitched roofs are usually harder to read. The air space under slates and tiles can hide patterns, so we also look from the loft where it is safe.
How much does a thermal roof survey cost?
It is part of the Premium Survey, from £400. You also get an in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size.
Can you check my loft insulation with a thermal camera?
Thermal images can suggest where heat is escaping and where insulation may be missing. We don’t give energy ratings or heat loss calculations, but the report shows where to look more closely.
What happens after the survey?
The report comes by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only when it is safe. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where applicable let us see the rest.
How we price thermal roof surveys
Not every roof costs the same to survey, and it comes down to:
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- Which survey package you book
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
What to let us know when you contact us
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- What’s prompted the survey
- Dates you are working to, such as exchange
Every survey is priced before it’s booked, so you know the cost up front. Thermal roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
What we do, step by step
Once we’ve finished looking, we write up our findings as a photo-illustrated written report. On timing, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Rural addresses near Longparish can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
- We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
Getting a price
Most bookings start with a short call: ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Advice
Tips from our surveys
From years of surveys, a few habits stand out:
- Talk to us about the weather when booking
- Move stored items away from the loft hatch
- Heat the home normally on the days before
- Check outlets after heavy rain
You can pass the report to a roofer so they can see where the problem areas seem to be. Each thermal image is matched to a normal photo, so the areas are easy to locate.
Deal with small splits and lifted seams promptly. Water that gets under a covering can spread a long way before it shows.
