Flying and imaging in Maiden's Green
If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. With St Leonard's Hill about 3 miles north-east, Maiden's Green sits in an area with a long building history. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.

Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Maiden's Green
Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. You also get a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day. There is an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. You can phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. If you are worried about gaps in loft insulation and cold areas below the roof, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Villages like Maiden's Green often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
We keep jargon out of it: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

How the survey changes by roof type
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
On larger commercial single-ply roofs, thermal imaging can help target moisture readings. That makes the survey more focused.
GRP fibreglass roofs
Cracks in GRP can let water into the boards beneath. We check cracks by eye and use the images to see whether there’s a pattern around them.

Common questions in Maiden's Green
Do you carry out roof surveys in Maiden's Green?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and Maiden's Green is part of that. Just call 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know about the property, and we will talk through which survey suits.
Do you cover smaller places like Maiden's Green?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see each point for yourself.
Does thermal imaging detect leaks directly?
Not directly. It shows surface temperature, and wet areas can show up because they hold heat differently. That’s why we check any patterns with moisture readings.
Is thermal imaging good for finding leaks?
It is a useful tool for tracing leaks, but not the only one. What it shows depends on the weather and the roof. If the source can’t be confirmed, we’ll say what could help next, like electronic leak detection.
Will you walk on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
How long does the survey take?
Time on site depends on the roof, but most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. The report is sent afterwards by email.
What we are asked to look at in Maiden's Green
Buyers sometimes want more than a visual look at the roof. The Premium Survey brings thermal imaging and a drone inspection where it applies, with a report the same day, which suits a purchase that’s moving quickly.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Water getting in at parapets and stacks
- Moisture around outlets and upstands
- Wet insulation beneath the membrane
- Stains that keep coming back
If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Mary, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- Their report turnaround times
- How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone
- What exactly goes into their report
- Are they insured for the work?
What you can safely check yourself
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey.
Why get it checked now?
Before replacing a large flat roof, it helps to know how much of it is actually wet. Thermal imaging, checked with moisture readings, gives a clearer picture before you commit. For an older or listed building in a place like Maiden's Green, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.
All our prices include VAT. Our price is from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.

What we do, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes an hour or two at a typical home, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Somewhere as small as Maiden's Green, access is frequently the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
- Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there’s safe access, in the loft.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.
