Queens Park Thermal Roof Survey
Thermal imaging to find moisture and heat loss patterns in a roof in Queens Park. We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Water that travels before it shows
- Moisture around outlets and upstands
- Patches of heat loss across the roof
How a thermal roof survey works in Queens Park
A thermal survey can point to places where heat is escaping through the roof. Gaps in loft insulation and poorly insulated areas can stand out on the images. The difference shows most clearly when it’s warm inside and cold outside. Our report points out what the images suggest and where to look more closely. We don’t give energy ratings or heat loss calculations. If you are worried about damp patches with no obvious cause and areas of a flat roof that may hold water, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on commercial roofs, loft conversions and insulated roof spaces alike.
Around Queens Park, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

What to let us know when you get in touch
If you can, have these to hand when you contact us:
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
- What kind of property and roof it is
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Queens Park questions
How do I find out if my home in Queens Park is listed?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Will you come out to Queens Park?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can thermal imaging show missing insulation?
The camera can point to heat loss and gaps in insulation. We do not give energy ratings or heat loss calculations, but the report shows where to look more closely.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
It depends on what we need to see. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in; we’ll agree the details as you book.
What do I do with the report?
The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where applicable, the Premium Survey.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
Practical tips
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:
- Make sure the loft can be reached safely
- Do not switch the heating off ahead of the visit
- Photograph damp patches with the date
- Keep the report to compare against after any repair
If you’re buying, the report gives you specific points to raise with the seller or agent. What you do with it is up to you, whether that’s asking for work or discussing the price.
Make sure loft insulation covers the whole area and hasn’t been disturbed. Gaps often appear after work in the loft.

Thermal roof surveys in Queens Park: local notes
Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it is listed or in a conservation area. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Friars Square, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. If you look after a building like Aylesbury Grammar School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. If you live in an older home near Holy Trinity, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

When you need someone else
Before booking, it’s worth knowing what a survey won’t do:
- An energy rating for the building
- Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
- Confirming water without moisture readings
If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Ceilings below the roof
- Pitched roof slopes
- Flat roofs
- Insulated roof spaces
- Loft conversions
- Commercial roofs
Checking the roof from the ground
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
How it works
Safety comes first on every visit. We inspect what can safely be seen, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey normally takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. In a smaller place like Queens Park, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: the parts that need calm, dry weather are planned around it.
- You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Getting ready for the survey
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
