South Park Thermal Roof Survey

We take a careful look at the roof at your property in South Park, with photographs and a written report.

  • Damp that repairs haven’t cured
  • Missing or slipped insulation
  • Water that travels before it shows

Need a thermal roof survey in South Park?

How it works

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a report with photos, emailed to you. As for time on site, it typically takes between one and two hours at most homes, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. For a survey in South Park, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Weekday and weekend visits are both possible. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.

  1. We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
  2. We look over the roof from wherever it’s safe.
  3. We take thermal images of the roof and of the loft where we can reach it.
  4. Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
  5. The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.

Before we arrive

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Jot down any questions you want answered
  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of

Advice

Thermal roof survey in South Park

A thermal camera can help when the cause of damp isn’t obvious. Water can travel some distance under a roof covering before it shows inside, and temperature patterns can help us trace where it may have come from. We combine the images with a visual inspection and moisture readings, so no conclusion rests on one method alone. We survey flat roofs, pitched roof slopes and commercial roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are damp that repairs haven’t cured and damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys.

Older cottages and houses around South Park may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

FAQs for South Park

Will you come out to South Park?

Yes, South Park is covered. We work right across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Is drone flying allowed in South Park?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. South Park is about 1 mile from the edge of the flight restriction zone around Redhill Aerodrome. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather, though the rest of the survey goes ahead either way.

Which survey includes thermal imaging?

Thermal imaging is included in our Premium Survey, from £400. That also includes a full inspection, a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a same-day report.

Does thermal imaging detect leaks directly?

Not directly. It shows surface temperature, and wet areas can show up because they hold heat differently. We confirm what it suggests with moisture readings.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs cannot always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

How many surveys have you done?

We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys

Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:

  • Which survey package you book
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Booking your survey

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Any deadline, like an exchange date
  • The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. For a price or to book, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Honest limits

We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:

  • Proving moisture from the images alone
  • Structural calculations, which need a structural engineer
  • An energy rating for the building

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Commercial roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Flat roofs
  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Loft conversions

Different roofs, different checks

Parapets, valleys and junctions

When valley or parapet gutters overflow, water can get into walls and ceilings. We use the camera and moisture readings to help follow it.

Felt and asphalt flat roofs

These coverings sit directly on the layers beneath, so temperature differences often show through. Any patterns are checked with moisture readings.

Tips from our surveys

You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:

  • Clear leaves from outlets and gutters each autumn
  • Don’t climb onto the roof to look for leaks yourself
  • Keep the report to compare against after any repair
  • Ask us about the forecast if rain is expected

You can pass the report to a roofer so they can see where the problem areas seem to be. Because the images are paired with photos, it’s easy to find each area on the roof.

Consider a repeat survey after major work on the roof in suitable weather.

Why get it checked now?

A damp patch that keeps coming back usually has a cause that hasn’t been found. Thermal imaging with moisture readings can help narrow it down, instead of trying repair after repair. Blocked gutters on homes around South Park overflow and soak walls. It’s easy to sort the cause early and slow to dry a damp wall.

Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Our price is from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

Flying and imaging in South Park

South Park is about 1 mile from the edge of the flight restriction zone around Redhill Aerodrome. Where the drone is part of the survey, the exact boundary is checked for the address first. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

Shop and office owners around The Belfry may find that large commercial roofs are often easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. If you look after a building such as Sandcross Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. Take an older house close to St Luke's: thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.
