Prices for thermal roof surveys in Tye

To price your survey, we look at:

  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • House, block, shop or office
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.

Getting in touch

Some details help us suggest the right survey and price. When you contact us, tell us:

  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Your timetable, like an exchange date

If you’re buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form when you’re ready.

Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Tye

A thermal survey can point to places where heat is escaping through the roof. Gaps in loft insulation and poorly insulated areas can stand out on the images. The difference shows most clearly when it is warm inside and cold outside. Our report points out what the images suggest and where to look more closely. We do not give energy ratings or heat loss calculations. If you’ve noticed damp around chimneys and parapets and wet areas near outlets and upstands, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on commercial roofs, flat roofs and insulated roof spaces alike.

In a village or hamlet like Tye, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

FAQs for Tye

How do I find out if my home in Tye is listed?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.

Do you cover Tye?

We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.

Will you walk on the roof?

Only when it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.

Is thermal imaging good for finding leaks?

It frequently helps show where to look. Patterns can suggest where trapped water has spread. It’s used alongside a close inspection and moisture readings because the camera can’t confirm water on its own.

How experienced are you?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

How long does the survey take?

Expect it to take about 1–2 hours at most homes, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. You’ll then get the report by email.

Can you survey at the weekend?

Surveys run on any day of the week. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

What happens on the day

Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. You’re welcome to ask questions while we are there. Cottages and farmhouses around Tye frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
  2. We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
  3. Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there’s safe access, in the loft.
  4. Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
  5. Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.

Before the survey

  • If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming
  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed

Advice

Flying and imaging in Tye

The coast is about 1 mile or less from Tye, and wind off the sea can be strong. Thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof surface and little wind, so the date is chosen with the forecast in mind. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.

Warblington Castle, about 2 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Tye. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition. If you look after a building such as Mill Rythe Junior School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Take an older house close to Church of St Peter: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Tye is about 3 miles south of Havant, in Hampshire. We carry out thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Tye. Our Hampshire coverage includes Tye and the places around it.

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget.

Different roofs, different checks

Pitched slate and tile roofs

On pitched roofs, slates and tiles over a ventilated space can mask what’s happening underneath. We back up what the camera shows with a look in the loft where we can.

Parapets, valleys and junctions

Water often gets in where roofs meet walls, parapets or valley gutters. The camera can help show damp around these junctions.

What this survey cannot tell you

We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:

  • Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface
  • The condition of timbers we can’t see
  • Confirming water without moisture readings

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey before booking. The full list of what we check.

What we look at

  • Loft conversions
  • Commercial roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Flat roofs

Checking the roof from the ground

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level.
